Christmas Cards for Adopt-a-Family Holiday

For years I have kept a basket full of cards for sale on the patient check out counter at the medical practice where I work. The money raised each year is donated to the adopt-a-family event sponsored by my company to serve many families in need. It is exciting to see the card purchases pick up over the holidays and keeping the basket filled is a fun job for me since I get to experience the fun of making cards and raising funds for the cause.  I had a weekend filled with relaxation and was able to make several cards to add to my supply that I want to share with you that I made for the SCS challenges.

I made the first two cards for a challenge where we were asked to make a winter holiday card using no white. Yikes.  At first that seemed a little daunting but it really wasn’t that hard.

KC The Moose is Loose 18

I created a card like this in all blue last week and wrote a tutorial on the technique.  I thought it would be perfect to do on Kraft colored cardstock with green trees and a little falling snow.  It is so peaceful to me.

KC Be Jolly 3

I created this fun snowman scene on the same Kraft cardstock and painted the snowman with Pumice Stone reinker.  I love the country feel of this project.

KC Framed Snowman 2

This charming and dirty snowman seemed to pop layered over the red and white snowflake paper.  Doesn’t he look like he could be a homeless snowman. I tried my hand creating one of Anna’s style crystal snowflakes.

KC Christmas Cardinal 11

I love this Christmas Rose image and try to make at least one card with it every year.  It is one of the most elegant images that I own and is so much fun to color.  I think it pairs perfectly with gold embossing and ribbon.

 KC Peaceful Wishes 8

I love using pine cones and sprigs on Christmas cards.  It seems they pair perfectly with country red and white gingham.  These image have been cut out and popped up to add dimension to the project. You can see the layers much better in the next photo.

KC Peaceful Wishes 8 a close

As you can see I was able to add quite a few cards to my supply this weekend and got in lots of creative time for myself at the same time.  I hope you all have a great week.

  1. I have been reading the post over on SCS on blogs and the reasons people do and do not read them.
Besides liking your style and the beautiful cards you make, another reason I like your blog is the full recipes you give. Really bugs me to see a card I like and nothing is mentioned about what products were used. I may not post a comment every time but I do appreciate the time you take to share.
Like the cards you posted. I have the Christmas Rose image and thanks for the inspiration on using it.
