Happy Sunday. I woke up really early this morning and enjoyed my coffee while surfing and commenting on the SCS challenge galleries. Since I was up so early I also had plenty of time before starting my chores to enjoy creating a fun Christmas card using images from DRS Designs.
I received an invitation from DRS Designs to choose a couple of images to create a project. It didn’t take me long to find my way to the Christmas collection and to select the Wintertime Buddies and Pine Tree image.
I stamped the tree image across the main base of the card using green ink and then sponged green over to fill in each tree. I heat set the ink and then stamped over each tree with white craft ink and then embossed with white embossing powder. Only the lines of the trees filled in the white and appears as snow layered on the branches. I love this effect. It is always important to heat set any inks you don’t want covered when using embossing powder. I lightly dabbed white craft ink along the base of the trees to create a soft powdery snow.
I stamped the image twice on watercolor paper. I painted the snowman on one and painted the Santa on the other. I cut out and pieced together to create a little dimension with Santa popped up over the snowman. I lightly painted Liquid Appliqué on all the white areas of Santa to create his beard, mustache, and all the fur on his clothes and hat. I couldn’t resist adding a few sprigs of greenery and berries to the snowman’s hat. I used a punched evergreen sprig cut into pieces and a few 1/8th circle punches for the berries. I thought the red and white gingham ribbon was the perfect embellishment for this fun country Christmas card.
I hope you have a great Sunday and enjoy your week.
