Happy New Year and Flowers, Flowers and More Flowers

Happy New Year!  I can hardly believe it is 2012.  I wish each of you a wonderful upcoming new year.

I went flower crazy Saturday and just couldn’t seem to help myself! I love creating colorful floral projects against and all white background and have three of them to share with you today.

My first project is a mixed flower spray using different colors and style of flowers.  I used the odd theory of using 1, 3, 5, etc. to create a balanced look for my spray.

There is a mixture of foliage to add interest and a natural look to the arrangement.

My second project is all white with purple flowers.  It is simple yet elegant and I love how the purple pops against the white.

This is a far more simple design but I love the flower of the Cheery Lynn Fanciful Flourish.

I love adding tiny little sprigs of foliage and tiny flowers around the fines to add color interest and softness.

My third project is all soft pink and green and reminds me of the flower images used on fancy English china  tea sets.

I added lots more of the tiny flowers around this arrangement and I think they add such a sweet soft ness to the boldness of the all white background.

The larger flowers were made using the Martha Stewart large and multi flower Hydrangea Punches.  I filled the center of these flowers with tiny white pearls.

All of the flowers in these projects were made with various punches and dies, distressed with a stylus against a mouse pad to form and create a more natural look to the petals. I have several different step by step paper flower tutorials on the top right hand side of my blog home page including hydrangea, cornflowers, poinsettias, as well as  tutorials on how to create flower sprays and wreaths.

Have a safe and Happy New Year.  Thanks for all the wonderful support you give me post after post.  I really appreciate it so much!

  5. Kittie, finding your blog (via SCS) is the most exciting thing for me! I am in love with all your gorgeous flower cards. Thank you for the wonderful tutorials. I would love to know the name of the leaf punch that’s used in the January 1 card–the one that has smaller and smaller leaves and comes to a point, kind of triangular. Thanks again! bejoyce@mac.com

  10. Kittie,
I can’t wait to get home from work and check on what you have posted. I spent the weekend either buying things to make similar cards or making the cards. I am a maniac and can’t stop. You are sooooo inspiring and so talented. What are you using to make your frames. I am thinking it is probably punches but I have such a hard time getting things to line up that I am hoping they are dies.
