Color Throwdown 192

Welcome to my third week as guest designer for the Color Throwdown challenge.  This week’s color combination is bright with Regal Rose, Tangerine Tango, Melon Mambo and soft Sage Shadow.

I admit that I had to put my thinking cap on for this combination. I always find inspiration by laying placing pieces of each color cardstock out on my work counter. My first thought with color challenges is always to find a way to use all the colors equally. It usually doesn’t take me long to realize that it’s unrealistic and to focus on one or two of the colors. For my project today I chose the soft sage as the main color and brought the three bright colors in small doses with flowers and butterflies.

I die cut the Memory Box Orchard Tree Frame using Sage Shadow and attached it over the vanilla base using Glossy Accents. I die cut two of the Poppy Stamps Grassland Border and then die cut the bottom of one using the Orchard tree die so I could fit it in to the ground area and not interfere with the line of the frame. I fit another border in behind the first one and then filled in using Martha Stewart’s Branch Punch (check out the link as it’s on sale at JoAnn’s)to add fullness to foliage.  I die cut two of the Memory Box Leafy Branch and cut to fit in behind the grass border.

I die cut one Memory Box Flower Mound in the three bright colors and used both size mini flowers to fill in the grass area.  I formed the flower using a stylus and mat and then picked up the flowers with my QuickStik and attached  them  to the foliage  using Glossy Accents. I die cut all three colors of cardstock using the Memory Box Butterfly Delights and arranged them in the flowers and around the branches using Glossy Accents.

I may have gone a little overboard on butterflies and flowers but I love the way this turned out.  I have gone punch and die crazy here.

Thanks for checking out my post today and I hope you will go and see what the other Color Throwdown designers have to share with you today.
