Good Sunday morning! I want to start my post by saying how much I enjoyed meeting so many wonderful people at the Scrapbook Expo held here in Orlando. I was especially thrilled to meet Denise, (resqbarbie) one of the hosts for the Splitcoaststampers Clean and Simple challenge. I also had the opportunity to meet Leanne, a friend I have made from my blog. We got the chance to chat a few minutes and get our picture taken together.
Lots of people purchased my Kittie Kits Outdoor Master and In My Garden sets yesterday so I thought it would be fun to post a project today using both of those sets. My card also fits in with the Rubbernecker Design Team Garden Hop this week. Please go to the team blog by Friday the 25th for details on how you can win a free stamp set of your choice.
I started by stamping the largest tree in the Outdoor Master set with Brilliance Black Graphite ink on watercolor paper and heat set. I painted the tree trunk with Vintage Photo Distress Ink reinker and then stamped the leaves all around the tree limbs using Peeled Paint Distress Ink. When I finished stamping the leaves I blended ink around the leaves to fill in using Inkssentials Ink Blending tool.
I created the grassy area using a smaller leaf image and stamping multiple times around the tree trunk and then blending with the Ink Blending tool. I used a tiny brush to watercolor in a few curly sprigs popping out of the grass area. I used a Fired Brick Distress Marker to paint in red flowers all around the tree base and grass area. I finished the scene layer by sponging in blue around the sky area and with a light touch of yellow along the grass border for highlighting and brightening. I created a double matted frame to attach over the scene using Spellbinder Ovals and mounted using mounting tape. You can check out my frame tutorial if you would like to see how I make my frames.
I stamped the Adirondack chair from the Kittie Kits Fun In The Sun set and the garden images on watercolor paper with Brilliance Graphite Black, heat set, watercolored and cut out to pop up on the frame and the scene layer. I cut three flower pots, the watering can and the bird house along with the chair and arranged them to add interest and dimension to the scene. I used my Martha Stewart Branch Punch and Fiskars 1/8” Circle Punch to add foliage and flowers. I attached the birdhouse, pots and watering can with Glue Dots and used Glossy Accents to attach the foliage and tiny flowers.
Here’s a close up of the images and you can click on all the photos for a closer view.
Thanks for stopping by. Be sure and check out all the wonderful garden creation done by our Rubbernecker design team for the Garden Blog Hop.
