Blooming Poinsettia and Tina Wenke

Good Monday morning.  Do you love coordinating designer paper?  I sure do!  My project today was made using Tina Wenkes newly released Holiday Card Making Paper combination pack.  Each 12×12 paper is made of 4- 6×6" small scale patterns which are perfect for card making. This is the paper I used today.

I love the  Blooming Poinsettia paired with the Pine Branch and thought it would be fun to use these coordinating papers for the flower and pine.

I cut the flower petals in both the red and green patterns to use not only as the petals but for the poinsettia leaves.  I cut the pine using the green.  I formed the petals and pine using my stylus and mat. I distressed some of the petal tips pointing up and some down to create a natural looking flower and assembled the flower using glossy accents. I was careful to offset each layer of petals to avoid them lining up unnaturally.

I attached the flower to the card base with glossy accents and then added the pine and green foliage around under the petals.  I think these papers are so festive and appealing together.  If you would like to see step by step pictures of how I assemble my flowers you can check out poinsettia tutorial on the right top side of my blog home page.

  1. This is such a beautiful Christmas card. Love the way the background paper echoes the poinsetta. You always make the most beautiful flowers. I also like the way you blocked the background papers so that the poinsetta sits on the border.
