Good Thursday morning. Welcome to the Impression Obsession design team challenge. Our challenge today is “Colors of Summer”. If you take a walk on the beach on a hot summer day you will see brightly colored towels, bathing suits, umbrellas and wonderful blue sky and water.
For my project today I used the Grass Tall, Umbrella and Sunglasses.
I started my beach scene by using my color box stylus and foam tip to apply the brown ink for the sand and darker blue water line. I used my hand cut cloud template and ink blending tool to sponge in the scalloped clouds in the sky. I applied liquid applique on the water to create the appearance of sea foam, dabbled it lightly with my finger to spread it out to remove the chance of the “dreaded blob” and heated with my heat gun.
I attached the double matted frame over the scene with mounting tape. I added the sea oats, umbrella, towel and sunglasses to complete the fun beach scene. I have taken a side view picture to show the dimension.
I used a black glaze pen to hand draw a few gulls in the sky for the finishing touch. I want to be there. LOL!
Why don’t you come along and play with us. To enter the challenge go to the Impression Obsession Blog (all the details are there!). A random challenge card will be selected to showcase on the IO blog and you can to enter to win a $25 gift certificate to IO just by playing!
I hope you will go check out what the other IO teams members created for the challenge. Thanks for coming by today.

How did you make the sunglasses look so realistic?
I’m a total “push-over” to anything remotely dealing with a sea theme, water theme, beach theme….you get the pic. I see a lovely CASING in the near future. In the meantime, I’m off to the pool to do my laps and water aerobics….yup…7 AM and I’m going swimming. I had to had been a fish, sea captain or pirate in a past life…haha
What a calming scene. I love all the details. The sea oats and those fabulous sunglasses.
