Good Sunday morning. I posted a project yesterday with bright green pine and chickadees against an all white background. I love layering color over an all white or cream background. My project today is brightly colored Impression Obsession Leaves against a cream background. I added a decorative element with the Border Duo 1 but it is really all about the leaves and the bare branches. I colored the leaves with Susan’s Pan Pastel and have a few step by step photos to show you below.
I cut the decorative border using Border Duo 1 , scored both sides with my Scor-Pal and mounted it to the card base with mounting tape.
I colored the leaves with pan pastel, formed them with the molding pad and stylus and attached them with glossy accents in a free style design. I used the Bare Branch to cut a few pieces of branch, sponged them with vintage photo ink, formed them lightly with the stylus and molding pad and tucked them into the design and attached with glossy accents. Here’s a side view.
Some may not like the look of the bare branches showing but to me they are as significant to the design as the leaves. Together they display the wonder of fall.
I layered three colors on the leaves starting with the lightest and building up. Yellow, Orange, Red Iron Oxide
I covered the whole leaf with yellow.
I added the orange to most of the leaf but left some of the yellow showing.
I sponged the red on and smoothed it from the center out leaving some of the orange and yellow showing.
After the first pass with the red I added more to the center to add more depth of color and light sponged outward.
I formed the leaf with the stylus and molding pad to create a natural appearance and to add dimension.
I hope you find these coloring tutorials helpful. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful and relaxing Sunday.

Kittie, I love the Fall, and this card is Beautiful….I have all the Pan Pastel (s) and other dies that will work..I wondered do you set your Pan Pastel with any kind of spray? I heard that hair spair (aerosol) works with some chalks etc…but I wondered about this? thank you, blessings, victoria
Oh, Kitty! Really pretty card! like real!!!
This is a beautiful card! What formed the white lines on the leaves? I thought it was embossing ink, but I don’t see that in your list of supplies or in the description.
After seeing your beautiful leaves I ordered a few fall colors of pan pastels and will give them a try. What fixative did you use on your leaves? Thank you so much for your wonderful tutorial. You have been a great inspiration to me for using dies and molding flowers and leaves. Your techniques are very fun to work with.
