Impression Obsession “Words of Encouragement” Design Team Challenge

Good Thursday morning and welcome to the Impression Obsession “Words of Encouragement” design team challenge.  Before I start my post I want to take the opportunity to welcome Ellen Taylor to our design team. It’s a little late because she has been with us for several weeks. I had the privilege of serving with Ellen on another team and she is so much fun and super talented.

I have had the Riding Pretty stamp set for quite a while and this is the first time I have used it.  I love the bicycle and the additional images and sentiments.

Impression Obsession Clear Stamp Set: Riding Pretty

For my project today I paired the Riding Pretty set with the Solid Tree set, Tree die, Leaf Cluster, Grass Border and the brand new Small Grass Border.

I started by brushing clear water all over my entire piece of watercolor paper to prepare for applying the blue sky ink as well as the green grass ground area.  I dipped my very wet brush into pure tumbled glass reinker and and painted it across the whole top portion of the page and allowing the ink to run down the page.  I smoothed the ink out some with the brush and stopped it right at the grass line. I then quickly dipped my wet brush into pure peeled paint reinker and painted it over the ground area.  I heat dried the paper to prepare it for the creating my scene.

I stamped the bike with black versafine and heat set and colored it with a brush and reinkers.  I stamped the tree using vintage photo and stamped the leaves all around the tree branches with peeled paint.  I cut a mask for the bike and covered it so I could stamp in a few of the mini evergreen trees (I love that precious little tree stamp in this set) around the scene.  I also used the grass stamp from my Kittie Kits Outdoor Master to fill in the ground area. I stamped the basket and bunny image and painted and cut out to pop up in the scene.  I cut the tree die out of watercolor paper, painted it and then cut several leaf clusters to attach to the tree branches.  I cut the leaf clusters apart so the leaves would be small enough to fit well on the tree.

I attached lots of tiny red flowers to the tree and attached the tree right over the stamped tree with rolled up glue dots. I attached several red flowers to the stamped leaves to fill in the tree top. I added a few foliage springs and flowers to the basket and attached it with rolled up glue dots. I attached the two grass borders, added tiny flowers along the border and popped that sweet bunny in for the final finishing touch. Here’s a little closer view to show the dimension of the scene.

Note to self…..never, ever wait until you are completely through with your scene to stamp the sentiment.  You may get it on crooked and have to either live with the boo boo or totally remake your project.  Uh….I don’t think so.  LOL!  Smile

Check out my step by step Tree Scene tutorial if you would like to know how I created my tree for this project.

  1. Good Morning,Kittie. I really like this one. The gorgeous flowers and the bike adds a special touch. Makes you want to ride in the country and see the beauty of trees and flowers.
    Have a good day.
