Good Wednesday morning. Before I start my post this morning I want to announce that I am the guest Tutorial Author on Splitcoaststampers this week. I have a video tutorial to share with you using PanPastel with Susan Tierney-Cockburn's Lily. I hope you will come over and check it out. It's my first attempt at making a video in several years so be gentle. My camera and I had a few ups and downs along the way.
My project today was made for the Splitcoaststampers Clean and Simple Challenge to use scallops. I rarely use a pre printed image on my projects but I couldn’t resist the wonderful pictures in the Graphic 45 Sweet Sentiments paper. I thought this cherub Valentine would be perfect to use on my clean and simple scalloped background.
I had to laugh at myself when I started this project. It has been so long since I used one of the Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page sets that I had to pull up my own step by step tutorial to see the instructions. Getting old is… $%*#…..well….you know! I finally figured out the correct measurements the second time around and attached it to the card base with mounting tape. I attached the cherub image to the eyelet layer with mounting for another element of dimension.
I colored white organdy ribbon with antique linen by pressing it directly in the ink pad. I let it dry a few minutes and then created a multi loop bow. I heated the ribbon lightly to give a more vintage feel and attached it to the card with glue dots. I love the image framed with the delicate eyelet border.
Thanks for stopping and I hope you are having a great week.
Card size: 5.5” x 4.25” Paper: Papertrey Vanilla
I love the vintage feel of this card and it is so different for you. The cherub is so very reminiscent of a gentler age. Your creativity has no bounds. Thanks!
Lovely Valentine, Kittie! Nice image, border and pretty bow. Thx for the SC tutorial, too. 🙂
Always enjoy your creations….and it was good to hear your voice. Good job!
Hey Kittie, Yes I know…I forget all sorts of things, except, of course, the things I want to forget! lol Love the card. I’m not making beautiful ones this year. I’m headed for silly, childlike valentines. I have a whole page of images like we used to use as kids. So I’m using them this year. Congrats on the SCS tutorial. I love to watch process videos like that. Thanks for all your inspiration. Jess
I love this style. I am making about 20 Valentine cards form my grandson for school and this one will definitely be in there. I usually make them all different but this year I am going to TRY to make four or five in the same style to make it go a little faster! TFS…beautiful and elegant 🙂
Congratulations Kittie with your Tutorial!
Very good and clear……and I understand you! (my English gets better every day)
A lovely Valentine card, sweet and elegant!
Thanks for all!
Hugs, Eva.
This is a stunning vintage card Kittie – I so enjoy looking at your beautiful creations, and this has to be one of my favourites. I have this MS punch set, and have used it very little, so I too would have to re-tutor myself!!

This is so sweet and elegant. The simple lace looks lovely with the vintage image and great tip on how to ‘age’ the ribbon bow. Thank-you! 🙂

Good Morning, Kittie, A BIG CONGRATULATIONS for being a guest on SplitCoastStampers tutorials. You sure do deserve it. And your tutorials are a welcome to them and to us. Not to worry about the video it was good. and being able to see and print instructions are a blessing…..thank you soooo much.
PS: Your lovely Valentine is beautiful. Vintage images, remind us of childhood an when we use to exchange Valentines in school. Thanks for the tip on coloring the ribbon bow, never tried that one before. A lovely card with that image and the lace around it for softness and beauty…..love it…..LOL
I feel your pain with the punch around the corner punch. It took me forever to find directions as to how to do this…and to find that you have them here for us! Well it was all worth it because your card is beautiful. Love this.
Kittie, I’ve always admired you for making simple and clean yet oh soo-gogeous and lovely cards. That’s why I can’t resist going over your creations over and over again.
Kittie, thank you for the video of making the lily, especially showing how you use the pan pastels. Now I know I need the flower pots, I know why my flowers are flattening out. The video was great, so nice to see you at work and to hear your voice. Your valentine card is lovely. I have been digging out my old punches lately and using them. I will have to look at my Martha Stewart ones and use them more. I will check out your tutorial, I haven’t had much success with punch around the page yet. Thank you for the creative inspiration.
