Quatrefoil and Floral Spray

Good Monday morning.  I have a floral project to share with you today made using the Taylored Expressions Quatrefoil Cutting Plate and paired with the Poppystamps Lorelai Leaf and Gentle Leaf. When I first saw this die I knew I wanted to use it as a background for a floral spray.  When I first cut the piece out and sat poking all the pieces out of it I thought what a waste it would be to just throw them away. Then it dawned on me that they may make pretty flowers.  Here’s what I came up with.

I applied thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the Quatrefoil and attached it to the white card base.

I gathered up all the cutouts and formed them with my stylus and molding pad.  I took a few pictures to show how easy they are to make.

1

I rolled the large stylus on the backside of the flower to form a sort of bowl and concentrated on turned back the edges.

2

I flipped the flower over face up and pushed down directly in the center with my smaller tipped stylus to form.

3

I created a bottom layer for each flower by repeating the same steps but I used a much lighter touch to form.  It needed to much more open so it would show under the top flower section.

4

I cut several pieces of the Lorelai and lightly formed them with my stylus and molding pad. I attached five of the flowers to the stems with glossy accents before attaching them to the card base.  One stem was attached going up and the other down.  I then attached branches to the very center and attached the two remaining flowers to fill in the spray.  I tucked a few pieces of the Gentle Leaf into the arrangement to soften.  I inserted pearls into each flower center for the finishing touch.

I think the Quatrefoil is going to be a favorite background for lots of future projects. It is so pretty.

  5. Kittie this card is very beautiful. The first thing I thought was which flowers did she use. I always look at the offcuts and try to think of ways to use them. Thank you for sharing the step by step, it is excellent.
I haven’t been visiting for awhile because I was in the hospital. I fell in our laundry room, while getting ready to visit our grandchildren, and I broke my kneecap. I am home now and able to visit my favourite blogs again.
This card for me is like receiving a beautiful feel better soon card. I will be going back through and enjoying all the posts I have missed.

  10. I loved the Quatrefoil!! It is so girly beautiful.. I especially liked how you reused those cut offs, they made great looking flowers. And nothing much is thrown away. I reuse (upcycle?) many crafty bits in my own cards so it was a real delight. Thanks Kittie You make wonderful cards!!
