Butterfly Vine and Swirls Background

Good Sunday morning.  I have a sweet butterfly project to share with you today using my new Memory Box Butterfly Vine Border and Taylored Expressions Swirls Cutting Plate. I took a few pictures to show how I transformed the green butterflies on the vine with pops of color and dimension.

I cut the vine once in green  and two each of the designer paper.  I trimmed most of each butterfly portion off with my snips.

I cut the designer paper butterflies off the vine and attached to the vine with glossy accents.

I cut seconds of each butterfly and attached over the base with a touch of glossy accents and bent them to appear to be in flight.

5

I cut the swirl background and attached thin strips of mounting tape to the back and attached it to the white base layer.  I attached the swirl background layer to the colorful card base with mounting tape for another level of dimension.

6

I applied micro rolled glue dots to the back of each butterfly to attach to the background.

I love the delicate vine and the pops of color against the white swirl background. I love, love, love this cutting plate.

I know you are thinking that this was a tedious process to cut all those butterflies and teeny tiny pieces of mounting tape but I think it was well worth the effort.

I hope you are enjoying your weekend and I appreciate you taking time to stop by today.

  1. Happy Sunday to you and your’s! Your card is such a breath of fresh air, today especially; it is snowing AGAIN. This beautiful card is just what I needed today to lift my spirit. I can’t thank you enough for that. “Ditto” regarding your feeling for the Swirl background, the Butterfly Vine is delightful. As always exceptional work. TFS.

  2. You have completely changed my outlook on dies and colors. Your work is so elegant and soft, but it’s also crisp with your use of pops of color or even all one color! Love, Love, Love what you do!

  3. Kittie, this is a lovely bright and happy card. It makes me smile and lifts my spirits. I love the colours you have used on the butterflies and the 3d affect.
The background is gorgeous, the swirls are perfect for the butterflies.
Thank you for sharing this creatively inspiring beautiful card. This gives me ideas for a project I was working on in the hospital, I use my empty small cereal boxes to make an accordion album. I had some die cuts in my art bag and I coloured and rolled and glued and had creative time, that way I wasn’t bored out of my mind. I am continuing with my project while I am recovering from my broken knee. I can’t bend it for another two weeks, I am walking with a walker.
