Floral Heart and Butterfly Garden

Good Saturday morning.  I love creating flower garden cards. I had the Floral Heart Strip already laying on my desk and thought it would be perfect to pair with the Swirl Tree to create a whimsical Valentine.  The hearts on the tree were cut using the Double Heart Edger. Of course no garden would be complete without a Grass Border and some Butterflies.

The heart strip and butterflies were cut using pink cardstock and I used an olive copic marker to color the stems. I cut the tree and grass border using olive cardstock and actually colored them both with the marker to add some depth of color to more closely match the flower stems. I attached the individual hearts to the tree with glossy accents, waited for them to dry a little and then formed them by placing them face down on my molding pad and pushing down lightly with my stylus. I did the same with the hearts on the stems.

I cut the frame using my Spellbinders Matting Basics B set.  I attached the grass border and floral heart strip to the back of the frame with ATG adhesive. I applied thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the frame and attached it to the white card base.

I applied thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the tree and tucked it in behind the floral border.  I added a few pink butterflies for the perfect finishing touch.  This is so crisp and simple and would make a precious card for lots of different occasions besides Valentines.

  2. Kittie, this card is a lovely, whimsical card! I love the pink and the butterflies. The swirl tree is now going on my list, so many fun possibilities with that tree. Of course there must be a heart flower garden. This is a great, fun valentine card. Thank you for sharing this creatively inspiring, beautiful card.
