Rabbit Diorama Scene

Good Saturday afternoon.  I have a sweet rabbit diorama scene to share with you today using several of the newly released Impression Obsession dies. I have only used these new dies once but I can already tell I have some new favorites. The new dies I used are the Rabbit Set, Leaves and Stems, Tiny Flowers and Small Bird Set.  I paired these with the Tree Die, Grass Border, Leafy Branch and the Sizzix Shadow Box.  I also used Ellen’s new line of beautiful heavy weight Bazzill cardstock.

I assembled the shadow box and adhered it together with my ARG adhesive.  I cut the tree using kraft cardstock and sponged on brown ink with my Color Box Stylus and foam tip.  I cut several of the stems from the Leaves and Stems and cut the tiny leaves off and applied to the tree branches with glossy accents.  I punched pink 1/8” circles, formed them with my tiny tipped stylus and molding pad and attached over the leaves with glossy accents. I quite a bit off the trunk bottom so the tree would fit in the shadow box and attached it to the back wall with thin strips of mounting tape.

I attached one layer of the grass directly to the back and side walls of the shadow box. I cut two 1/2” strips of cardstock the width of the box and scored them down the middle and formed them into an L shape to use as a bass to hold up the grass. I applied ATG adhesive to both sides of the L and attached the grass border to one side of the L and attached the other side to the floor of the box.  I took the photo below looking down into the box so you could see the grass layers.

I cut several stems and tiny flowers, formed the flowers with my tiny tipped stylus and molding pad and attached them to the stems.  I tucked a few of them to the grass layers and attached with glossy accents.  I cut a leafy branch apart and attached the pieces to the frame opening on both sides. I attached a few more stems and flowers to both sides with glossy accents.

I attached a fourth grass border to the front of the frame and finished it with a plan green border that I hand cut with my deckle scissors.

I cut the rabbits with white cardstock and colored them with my mini applicator using Antique Linen and Vintage Photo ink.  I perched one inside the scene and attached with mounting tape.  I tucked the two front rabbits in behind the grass border and attached with ATG adhesive.  I added two birds  directly to the frame and one on a tree branch for the finishing touch.  I love how this shadow box turned out. It is much prettier in person.  It was very difficult for me to get good pictures with the correct lighting. Check out my tutorial here on how I color my die cut animals.

  1. Good Afternoon, Kittie, sunny and windy here today. what a gorgeous shadow box with so much detail. I don’t think I could do this shadow box, but sure would love to case the idea on a card. It just speaks of spring. I love your coloring of the bunnies, and the beautiful little flowers and what an idea of purple birds to catch your eyes. Super, Super, love it. (Photo’s) they come across very well, not to worry.
    Have a good week-end…..LOL

  3. Dear Kittie, your creations touch the little girl part inside me. When I see the cute bunnies and all the flowers, I wish I had a mini me that could shrink down and play inside your cards. Much love to you ♥

  4. Kittie, your shadow box is lovely! It is like a fresh spring breeze. The scene is beautiful. Thank you for sharing the 1/8″ circle punch tip for making the tiny flowers, similar to flower mound die, now I have the tool and I can make them. The impression obsession tiny flowers look like a die set I need, I am glad they did those and the small birds and the leaves and stems. I am always looking for dies to make small-tiny embellishments and these will be great.
Thank you for the creative inspiration today.
