Impression Obsession Design Team “Favorite Technique” Challenge

Good Thursday morning and welcome to the Impression Obsession Design Team challenge. My project today was made using pieces from both the Square House and Brick House sets, Fence Border, Tree Die, Leafy Branch, Grass Border, Small Grass Border, Butterfly Set and Pine Sprig Cluster

I love making cards with scenes, whether it be watercolor scenes, dimensional die cut scenes or a combination of them both.  I especially love creating house themed cards with an open inviting fence and a walkway that draws the eye into the welcoming front door. It is always fun to step out of the box and add an extra touch of whimsy with an unusual element like a pink flower background.

I started by cutting and assembling the house with all of the windows, drapes, door, chimney, front steps and decorative elements. I loved the all white house with only a touch of pink for the window drapes and the touch of green foliage on the front door.  I attached the house to the card base with ATG adhesive. Here’s a closer view.

I cut the tall grass border to use as the stems for flowers on the inside of the fence.  I created the tiny flowers using my 1/8” circle punch and my tiny tipped stylus and molding pad and attached them to the grass stems with glossy accents. I cut the frame using Matting Basics B and adhered the grass to the back of it with ATG adhesive and leaving space for the fence walkway opening to the house.  I applied mounting tape to the back of the frame and attached it to the card base. I attached the small grass border to the front of the fence and attached the fence to the card base with mounting tape.

I cut the tree and applied brown ink with my Color Box Stylus and foam tip. I cut a large portion of the right side of the tree off and attached tiny leaf sections cut from the leafy branch and tiny flowers to the branches with glossy accents.  I applied mounting tape to the back of the tree and tucked it in behind the fence and inside the frame. I added a few leafy branches on the left side of the house to add another element of foliage and interest to the yard.  I couldn’t resist adding a few white butterflies for the finishing touch.

Here’s a side view to show the dimension of the fence, flowers and tree.  I love this little cottage scene.  I wish I could move in.

  6. Beautiful card, Kittie1 I can’t help spending lots of time looking at all of the sweet, lovely little details. Like a kid looking into a toy shop window, studying every little thing about his favorite toy. 😀
