Whimsical Bird and Rose Garden Scene

Good Saturday afternoon. My project today was made for the Splitcoaststampers Inspiration Challenge. Our inspiration site today was Packaging of the World and I was inspired by the colors of the bottles of the Josh Wood-Guardian of Colour found here.  I’ve don’t know if I’ve ever seen a completely yellow bird but I couldn’t resist making one today.  I loved how it looked against the aqua background.

I am always looking for different ways to use my dies.  Today I cut the branches away from the Large Bird on Branch and used them as the stems for my roses as well as the branch on the top of the card. I used my leaf tool and leaf pad to score the leaves and then formed them lightly with the stylus and molding pad. I attached the large fence to the card base with mounting tape. The stems and roses were attached to the fence with glossy accents and then the small grass border was attached with mounting tape.

I cut the yellow bird twice and cut a portion off of one with my deckle scissors to add the appearance of a folded wing for a touch of dimension. I attached the bird to the card base with a double layer of mounting tape.  The clouds were attached with mounting tape and the branch was attached at the top with glossy accents.  To me this scene is so whimsical with the soft colors.  I never tire of making flowers and fence scenes.

  2. Beautiful Rose garden and I love how you did the dimension on the bird. I do get some
gorgeous bright yellow birds in my yard but they have just a wee bit of black on their wings and chest, not sure what they are but they are strikingly beautiful.

  3. WoW, this card is so amazingly beautiful! I love the colours you have used. This has brightened my day and lifted my sagging spirits. It is cloudy and snowing, again! I love, love the roses on the fence and the way you achieved the effect of the bird’s wing. The yellow bird is a perfect bright attention focus. Thank you for sharing this amazingly beautiful, creatively inspiring card! Flowers and birds always make me smile.

  7. Love how you did the yellow bird..what a neat idea. He is so pretty dressed in yellow with his ruffled wing. You certainly made good use of that die creating so many different elements from the one die….most creative Kittie.

  8. Beautiful card, Kittie. I’ve made blue birds, brown birds, red birds, but never thought to do a yellow one, and he’s so cute on his fence post. Love it. Hugs, Kathy

  9. Kittie,
Your cards are fabulous. I have admired them for quite a while now. I would love to try and make some like yours but I just don’t know how you would go about mailing a 3D card like that. How do you mail yours?
