Happy Thanksgiving from Our House to Yours

Good Thursday morning and Happy Thanksgiving.  Are your pies done and cooling on your counter?  Do you do stuffing or dressing?  Will you have fresh made cranberries or does your family prefer the canned?  It is always interesting to me to hear about everyone’s family traditions and favorite recipes.  I will be making a pumpkin pie and fresh cranberries with Splenda Blend. Have you tried it?  It really does work well.  And….I like having dressing on the side rather than stuffing my turkey.

For my project today I stepped away from making Christmas cards to make a window card with a floral spray of branches, leaves and pinecones to celebrate Thanksgiving.

All the foliage was cut using vanilla cardstock and colored with distress inks and mini applicators. I actually started by only applying a light touch of  antique linen  to all the pieces so it would be monochromatic and match well with the designer paper.  After I got the whole arrangement designed and attached it looked so dead to me so I grabbed rusty hinge and spiced marmalade inks and started sponging it on all the pieces with a mini applicator.  I think it brought everything to life.

I hope you and your family have a blessed Thanksgiving.  Gobble gobble…..don’t eat too much turkey. Thanks for stopping by.

  2. Good Morning Kittie,
I wish You and your Family a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
The card you have made is wonderful, such as all your cards.
Kittie, unfortunately, the last week I couldn’t write a comment, but I have seen all your wonderful projects of the last days and I really enjoyed from. Thank you soooo much for sharing all the BEAUTIES!

  3. Very pretty card…
We always have cornbread dressing with our meal. Yes, my pies are made and/or purchased. I make the lemon icebox pies, but purchase the cherry and pecan pies from Fresh Market….I cannot compete with their recipes and I’m a terrible cook anyway. My holiday meals seem to turn out pretty well for some reason…maybe years of practice eventually pay off. LOL
You have a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration….ours will be quiet….hubby and I both have been sick, so we plan to have a slow day. Got most of the cooking done yesterday so there’s no stress today.
God Bless you and your family!

  4. Beautiful autumn colors card! Always love the lighted windows. I will definitely be checking out your tutorial. Thanks for the link. 🙂 Our family gatherings are very small now. We have the traditional feast … roasted turkey, stuffing (in the bird and Mom makes an “extra” pan for future use), mashed sweet potato casserole with a crunchy brown sugar/butter/pecan topping, fresh mashed potatoes with gravy (homemade), fresh green beans, sometimes Niblets corn, Ocean Spray jellied cranberry sauce, sometimes Pillsbury crescent rolls. I used to be the pie maker but a couple of yrs ago Mom found, I think they are Mrs. Smith’s, pre-baked pumpkin pies that you bake for about 45 min to warm. They are delicious and d/t the cost of the ingredients to make a homemade pie, they cost less. Sorry Libby’s. Hee. (I make an assortment of pumpkin dishes throughout fall into winter.) In yrs past when we had 12 or 15 for dinner we had far more food to feast on, including an assortment of hors d’oeuvres and additional pies and desserts. Traditions-wise … when I was a child all kinds of classicm Disney and Christmas movies were on TV on Thanksgiving Day. We always watched them instead of football. My brother and I were never very keen on the Macy’s T.G. Day parade so we have rarely watched it. We do call or hear from lots of long-distance relatives on Thanksgiving and Christmas, which is nice. Regardless of the changes and the fact that we are now down to a small number, we are incredibly thankful God and feel overwhelmingly blessed to be here, together. Happy Thanksgiving, Kittie! xx

  5. Love the colors, it looks great with that combo of inks, like the paper for the background. We started a new eating plan this summer, have lost 43 pounds so far, so we are trying new recipes for this thanksgiving, it will be interesting to see what we think.

  7. This will have to be among my Thanksgiving cards next year…it is so warm and soft. Love it. I like my stuffing on the side as well. I make Sweet Potato pies instead of Pumpkin…but make Pumpkin bread. Even with our corrupt world, we have so many blessings….for those I am most grateful…and Kittie you are among those blessings…you give us all a beautiful gift every day with your creativity….THANK YOU!

  9. Happy Thanksgiving Kittie! Gorgeous card.
I cook a southern traditional, Turkey with stuffing, done with Jimmy Dean sausage, celery and onions. Collards, sweet potatoes baked with pineapples, real mac & cheese (4 different kinds) and mashed turnips. Cranberry used to be fresh but now it is canned :). Homemade biscuits and I make sweet potatoes pies. I cook this once a year and enjoy every morsel. The rest of the year I eat salad and veg. because I am always thinking ahead to “Thanksgiving Dinner” :).

  10. Happy Thanksgiving Kittie & Family … I am watching the TG Day Parade as I write this … two years ago I was in NYC with my 44 year old son and had a blast. Our family prefers dressing on the side. Many years ago, I worked with a guy who loved to cook and he gave me a wonderful recipe for dressing that uses the Jimmy Dean bulk sausage and mushrooms … delish! Have a wonderful day … Today I am thankful to have access to the wonderful talents you share with all of us!

  11. Beautiful card as always. In Canada we had our Thanksgiving last month and since I do not really enjoy cooking I bought a deboned, stuffed and rolled turkey from a local butcher. It was so great I was like a Queen in the kitchen, lol. My mom in law had cooked Thanksgiving and Christmas, well just about every holiday meal for us for 30 years and sadly she passed two Christmases ago and we miss her terribly. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours Kittie.

  13. Kittie..love this Thanksgiving card..so pretty and your WT card on SCS is awesome. I’m going to use that idea for a quick card! We’ll be having our turkey stuffed with sage and sausage dressing (Grandma’s recipe), fresh cranberries, sweet potato souffle (heavenly), wild rice (a tradition in MN), and the usual pumpkin and pecan pies. I sure we will be “entertained” by our nephews (10,6)…always full of energy and fun to watch. Have a wonderful holiday with your loved ones!

  14. Wonderfully divine! I LOVE the colors and you really did step up the colors on the foliage, they are beautiful. Is the wallpaper a stamp or designer paper? Your tutorials are worth a $1,000,000.00, TFS.
