Inspired Rustic Framed Rose

Good Saturday morning.  My project today was made for the Splitcoaststampers Inspiration Challenge.  The inspiration for the challenge was to use color combinations pinned by Michael’s Stores.  I was inspired by a rustic wood and vintage pink rose.  Sadly my card didn’t end up looking like what I had in mind when I started but it was the best I could do.  This past Tuesday my ring finger tangled with my new Spiral Vegetable Slicer and the slicer won.  Ouch!  I have a fairly big boo boo and bandage that got in the way of my creative process.  LOL!

I started by stamping the Impression Obsession Tree Bark Background twice on white cardstock using pumice stone ink.  I then ran the ink pad directly over the pieces of cardstock to add more color.  I also ran the edge of the pad straight down the paper a few times to create a few lines. I didn’t really like the outcome so I used a wet baby wipe to wipe the paper to smoosh the color around.  I made the second piece darker with ink to create contrast for my frame.  I cut the frames and attached together with ATG adhesive.  I applied mounting tape to the back of the frame and attached it toe the card base.

I cut two My Favorite Things Large Rolled Rose pieces.  The first was rolled  and assembled to form the main center part of the flower.  A portion of the second rose was loosely rolled and attached together to form the larger petals for my flower.  I used pliers to roll back all of the petals of the rose to create a more natural looking flower.  The stem was cut using Susan’s  Garden Notes Rose 2

The stem and rose was attached to the card base with glossy accents to finish.

  6. Vickie, The first thing we made with it was zucchini pasta and paired it with my homemade sauce. We loved it! Honestly….the zucchini pasta chewed and tasted like regular pasta and is so much healthier. I highly recommend the machine as there are so many things you can do with it. As for me…..my husband will have to take over processing the veggies and fruit until I get over my fear of it. I was just not paying enough attention to what I was doing.
