Happy New Year Blog Candy and Great Sales

Good Friday morning and Happy New Year!  I thought I would start the new year off with a great Sizzix blog candy gift.  You can read more about it further down in my post.

First I wanted to draw your attention to some great sales going on right now.  Check out the big CLEARANCE SALE at Ellen Hutson.  I just scrolled down through the first clearance page and was surprised when I saw several of my favorite Impression Obsession dies and Memory Box dies are RETIRING.  Oh no!  My favorite little Impression Obsession watering can and tulips are retiring.

The Stamp-n-Storage 10% SALE is still going on but will end on January 4th.  I can’t say enough about how much I love the wafer die storage products. The magnetic cards are fantastic with a strong hold to keep my dies in place.  If you haven’t purchased any of the Stamp-n-Storage products you may want to check out the new Starter Kit Options to get started.

I was excited to sit down at my craft desk this morning for the first time since my eye surgery.  Getting my hands on my dies, cardstock and my Big Shot felt really good.  I hopped over to Splitcoaststampers to see what the Friday Free For All Challenge was and was happy to see  The Icing on the Cake.  The challenge gave me the opportunity to use the new Impression Obsession Cupcake Stand and pair it with the new Foliage, Spiral Rose Set and Rectangle 6-in-1 Frames.  This is the first time to use the Cupcake Stand and it was fairly fast and easy to put together.

I cut the frames, attached the two sections together with double stick tape, applied mounting tape and attached to the card base. I attached the cupcake stand to the card base with strips of mounting tape.

The cupcakes dies cut three different sections so it is easy to use different colors of cardstock to assemble.  Since I am a chocolate addict I made my cupcake with brown cardstock.  I liked coordinating my cupcake stand and cupcake papers in all pink and finishing off the cupcake with white frosting. I couldn’t resist adding a tiny leaf and punched red circle for the cherry on top.  I assembled the cupcakes by attaching the cake papers to the cake with glossy accents and then attached the frosting with rolled glue dots for dimension. I took a close up view so you could see the cupcakes and stand up close.

I finished the card with a pretty soft foliage and pink rose arrangement that was attached with glossy accents.. I think this would be a perfect birthday card for someone who loves chocolate cupcakes.

Now on to the Sizzix blog candy.  I love giving away blog candy and I have five Sizzix dies to offer as a New Year gift to one lucky winner. The gift includes the Gingerbread Man, Holly and Berries 2, Ornate Frame 2, Thinlets House and the coordinating 3-D pop-up House. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post by 5:00 pm on Wednesday, January 6.  I will announce the winner on Thursday the 7th.  Good luck.

  2. Great card…since my SIL is a chef and particularly loves pastries, I can imagine a card for him using these dies. Would probably substitute blue vs. the pink for a guy, but I love the pink.
Happy New Year and so glad you are well enough to be back at your crafting station. You have been missed.
