Inspired Framed Flowers

Good Saturday afternoon.  My project today was made for the Splitcoaststampers Inspiration Challenge and Wallplatesonline was our inspiration site today.  Who knew there were so many kind of wall plates to cover your light switches, etc.  I rarely use yellow as the main focal color of a project.  I don’t know why because I really like yellow.  I was inspired by the yellow design in the Monoprint Yellow Plate. The pattern of the yellow plate reminded me of the Belleek Inspired Technique that I love so much so I decided to use it for my card. You can see my Belleek Inspired Technique tutorial on my blog here.  My flowers were made using the Elizabeth Craft Bunch of Flowers 1, the frame and foliage was made using the Impression Obsession Rectangle 6-in-1 Frames and Foliage Set, and the embossed layer was done using the Sizzix Corners and Lattice Embossing Set.

I started by applying Scattered Straw ink to the embossing folder with my brayer, inserted the white cardstock inside the folder and ran through my Big Shot Express.  I attached the embossed layer to the card base with ATG adhesive.  The frame was attached to the card base with mounting tape.

The flowers were cut out of white cardstock and then color washed with Scattered Straw reinker mixed with water.  Painting the white cardstock with reinker mixed with water allows the flowers to perfectly match the color used on the embossing folder.  I heat dried the flowers, molded each one with my stylus and molding pad and then assembled the three layers of each flower attaching with glossy accents.  I cut two sets of the Impression Obsession Foliage to use to create the foliage base for my flowers.  I attached the foliage to the frame with glossy accents and then arranged the flowers and attached them with glossy accents. I finished the flowers by placing a small snow pearl in the center of each.

Here’s a closer view of the flowers and foliage.  I think this is so pretty and elegant.

  3. Oh my, such a beautiful card. Yellow happens to be my fav color with red a close second. Yellow goes with so many other colors when you think about it. I like that you used white leaves….very nice.
