Heart of Hearts

Good Sunday morning.  Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and I’ve created a clean and simple card using the Impression Obsession Heart of Hearts, Spiral Flowers Large, Foliage and the Lawn Fawn Scalloped Rectangle Stackables.  Red roses were always the most popular flower ordered from my mom’s flower shop for Valentine’s Day gifts. I thought the rolled roses and foliage would be the perfect embellishment for the simple die cut heart layer.

I cut the heart design out of the scalloped layer and attached it to the red layer using mounting tape.  I applied strips of mounting tape to the back of the red layer and attached it to the card base. I think the two levels of popped layers adds dimension and interest to this simple card layout.

I started rolling the spiral flowers around the tweezers from my Garden Tool Kit and securing them closed using glossy accents.  I rolled the outer petals  of the roses back using a pair of needle nose pliers to make them look more natural.  I cut the foliage to use with the roses. The larger foliage sections were cut apart to use to create the foliage base for the roses.  I attached the larger pieces of foliage to the heart layer with glossy accents and then attached the three roses with glossy accents.  Once the roses were secured I tucked several smaller pieces of foliage around to fill in the arrangement.  I used my snips to hand cut two thin curvy pieces of red cardstock to use as ribbon and tucked them in between the foliage and roses and attached with glossy accents.

You can check out my Rolled Rose Petal Tutorial you would like to see a few pictures of how I turn the petals back. I also have a  step by step photo tutorial and video over on Splitcoaststampers showing making a Rolled Flower from start to finish.

Thanks for coming by today and I hope you are having a great Sunday.  It’s cold and rainy here in Florida today so I plan to stay inside and play at my desk.
