Impression Obsession Hydrangea Blooms

Good Sunday morning.  My project today was made using the new Impression Obsession Pink Ink Hydrangea Blooms Clear Stamps and matching Hydrangea Blooms Die Set.  The images in the set can be mixed and matched to create lots of different projects.  I chose the watering can and several of the different sized hydrangea blooms and leaves and paired them with the Large Fence, Small Grass Border and Butterfly Set.

I placed all of the hydrangea and leaf images on my Mini MISTI, applied color using distress markers and stamped them on Arches Cold Pressed Watercolor Paper.  I applied the different colors of marker ink on to an acrylic block to use as a palette.  I used a wet brush to pick up the inks and lightly applied color to the images. I used a white gel pen to add definition to the flower centers.  I cut all the images out using the matching dies and then trimmed off any white borders left using my scissors. I assembled the leaves and flowers and arranged them in the watering can and attaching them together with glue dots.  I loved the tiny For You tag and and attached it to the watering can using glossy accents.

I wanted to create a fun backdrop for the can that would add interest but still allow the can to be the main focus.  I used the purple check from the My Favorite Things Tiny Checks Brights pad to create contrast for the white fence.  I attached the checked paper to a green layer using my ATG adhesive and then attached it to the card base using mounting tape.  I applied mounting tape to the top of the fence sections and glue dots to the bottom.  I wanted the  top of the fence to popped up away from the background paper but I didn’t want that extra bulk at the bottom of the fence since I was going to the grass border over the fence using mounting tape.  I hope that made sense.  LOL! I tucked the can of hydrangeas in behind the grass and attached it to the fence sections using mounting tape.  The little scene just didn’t seem complete to me so I cut butterflies using the watercolor paper and colored them with the same marker that I used for the flowers and attached them in the scene with glossy accents.  I added a touch of sparkle to them using a Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay Sparkle Pen. They look much darker in the photo than they do in person but I really like that they add another interest element to the scene.  You can never go wrong with butterflies.
