Good Friday morning. There has been lots of buzz about the newly released Essentials by Ellen Hinged Alphabet Set and Hinged Numbers Set at Ellen Hutson. My project today is a simple little beach scene made highlighting the Hinged Alphabet Set and paired with the Essentials by Ellen Bear Ware Stamp Set and Bear Ware Die Set.
I started by lining up the letters to create my Sun Fun hinged border. Since I was repeating the “u” and “n” I needed to run the border through my Big Shot twice. I lined the letters up on the cardstock making sure I had the hinged side of the letters positioned correctly and secured them in place using pieces of Post-It adhesive roll. I mentioned the hinge placement because the first time I placed my letters for the word sun I had the “n” backwards and it opened from the right instead of the left. I took a quick picture to show the first three die cut letters on the border and how I secured the second three in place.
I placed the Bear Ware images in my MISTI, applied black versafine ink and stamped then on white cardstock. I embossed the images using superfine clear embossing powder to give a little extra dimension to the lines and cut them out. I colored the images using Copic markers, applied versa and embossed them all again with clear embossing powder.
I applied the sand for the scene all the way across the paper using Vintage Photo ink and a mini applicator. Next I used an ink blending tool to apply the water and sky using Tumbled Glass ink. I used a small piece of mounting tape to attached the top of the beach umbrella to the scene. I cut off the pole from the umbrella, tucked it under the umbrella and attached it in place with a couple dots of glossy accents. I wanted to add a touch of sea foam to the water’s edge so I applied white embossing paste by by lightly tapping it on with my finger. I put touches of the paste over the bottom of the pole to make it appear like the surf was washing up over it. I added a touch of sparkle by sprinkling clear glitter on the paste while it was still wet. It’s hard to see the sparkle in the photos.
I applied thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the Sun Fun border and attached it to the top of the scene. I applied two thin strips of aqua cardstock to the top and bottom of the border to dress it up a little more. I attached the bucket, shovel and beach ball to the scene base with mounting tape and glue dots. I used a green marker to sketch in a few little patches of sea grass to finish. I’d like to be on that beach today instead of being at work.
Thanks for coming by today and I hope you have a great weekend.
