Hinged Alphabet Baby Card

Good Friday morning.  Have you seen the new Essentials by Ellen Hinged Alphabet Set and Hinged Numbers Set?  Were you dying to get the sets only to see them sell so fast they were out of stock in the blink of the eye.  They are back on the shelves now so if you want to get them you’d better move fast and hop on over to Ellen’s.  I linked the Hinged Numbers Set and the Hinged Thanks Set below in case you want to check them out. My project today is a sweet baby card made using the new Hinged Alphabet Set, Impression Obsession Cutie Pies Stamp Set, Cutie Pies Die Set and My Favorite Things Mini Scallop Rectangle Stax.  The cute blue heart designer paper is from the Lawn Fawn Let’s Polka In the Meadow 6 x 6 paper pack.

I started by stamping the three animal images on the designer paper using black versafine and embossing with clear embossing powder. I used the coordinating dies to cut out the animals and then trimmed them a little with my snips to get remove the thin border. I cut two sections of the scalloped rectangle.  I attached a piece of the designer paper to the card base using ATG adhesive.

I cut a piece of white cardstock to use to create the hinged baby layer and set the B and A in place.

I applied a piece of Post-It adhesive paper over the letters to secure and ran the layer through my Big Shot.

I set the B and Y in place, secured the letters with the adhesive paper and ran the layer through my Big Shot.

I cut two rectangle layers because a single section  isn’t wide enough to fit all the way across the card base. I knew that wouldn’t matter because I would cover up the section of the card where the two pieces met with the hinged baby layer.  I cut the two sections to fit and attached them to the card base with ATG adhesive.

Next I attached thin strips of mounting tape to the hinged baby layer and attached it in place on the card base.  I finished by applying mounting tape to the back of the three animals and attached them to the scalloped layer. These little cutie pies images are so precious and perfect for a baby card.
