Good Saturday afternoon. My project today was made for the Splitcoaststampers Inspiration Challenge and the Houzz site was on inspiration site. I was inspired by a whimsical tree scene rug in the Kid’s Rugs department called Daydream. The tree and leaves were stamped using the images from the Impression Obsession Solid Tree set, paired with the Small Bird Set, ducks from the Farm Girl Set and tiny flowers from the Garden Notes Sunflower Set.
I secured the tree stamp and hot press watercolor paper in my MISTI, applied Vintage Photo ink to the trunk and lower branches of the tree and Peeled Paint to tips of the branches. I stamped the leaves multiple times using Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint. I used a damp brush to lightly pull the color out of the stamped leaves and then filled in some of the branches using a wet brush and Vintage Photo reinker. I lightly sponged Shabby Shutters over the whole tree to soften and sponged in the ground area using Shabby Shutters and a touch of Vintage Photo at the base of the tree. I used my mini fern stamp from the retired Stampin’ UP! Watercolor Minis set to fill in the grass area to add a touch of texture.
The inspiration Daydream rug scene.
So I decided to add the small die cut and punched flowers to the scene to mimic the flowers on the tree in the inspiration piece but was instantly sorry after I attached a few. But once I started I had to continue because I didn’t want to tear up the scene by pulling off the glue down flowers. I used duck images in my scene to replace the dog in the rug scene. I lightly applied Wild Honey to the baby ducks, Pumice Stone to the momma and used an orange marker for the beaks and feet. I added a couple birds flying in the scene instead of using an owl on the branch. Since there was so much green in my scene I decided that a yellow layer for the scene would pull out the yellow of the ducks and tiny flowers.
Thanks for coming by today and I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.
