United We Flourish Good Friends Stamp and Die Combo by My Favorite Things

MFT Group

Good Sunday afternoon.  Today The Ellen Hutson team is joining the My Favorite Things team to share the release of the United We Flourish Good Friends Stamp and Die Set created by My Favorite Things exclusively for Ellen Hutson.  You can find all the details at about the release along with links to the design teams posts on The CLASSroom

My project was made using two of the precious dogs in the set paired with MFT Stitched Rectangle Scallop Frames, Leafy GreeneryStitched Scallop Basic Edges, Lawn Fawn Scalloped Rectangle Stackables and Hero Arts Infinity Nesting Rectangles.  I started by securing the stamps and cardstock in my MISTI, applied ink and stamped them.  I heat set the ink and then colored using mini applicators and distress ink.  I hand cut the dogs out with my scissors so I wouldn’t have any borders around the images.  I used an ink blending tool and a cloud template to apply blue clouds to the card base but they don’t really show very well in the photos.

I cut the largest of the scalloped layers in the Scalloped Rectangle Stackable set to create the frame base and then used the largest of the dies from the Stitched Rectangle Scallop Frames to cut the frame opening.  I turned both pieces over and attached them together using double stick tape. I attached the front layer of the ground area directly to the back of the frame, applied thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the frame and then attached the second ground layer.  I applied double stick tape around the edges of the ground areas and then attached the whole frame to the card base.

I wanted to add a fun dog house to my scene so I made one on my own.  I cut a piece of the woodgrain embossed cardstock 3” tall and 2.5” wide.  I measured 1.25” down from the top and drew a line straight across to use as a guide.  I marked off the 1.25” in to the center top and drew lines down both sides.  I lined the cut lines up on my trimmer and cut off the corners.

I used a the third largest die from the Scalloped Rectangle Stackables set and a rectangle die from the Infinity Nesting Rectangles to cut out a frame. I used a corner of the frame to create the roof and attached it to the house using strips of mounting tape.  I used another small rectangle frame to cut the door to the dog house and then used the same die along with the next size die up to create the red door frame. I used a rolled up strip of double stick tape to apply the frame to the house. I attached pieces of mounting tape to the back of the house and attached a small piece of the woodgrain cardstock to finish.

I tucked the dog house in behind the ground section and attached in place with mounting tape. The dogs were attached in behind the ground sections using mounting tape.  I cut the stamped bone image off of the dogs mouth and attached a die cut bone to his mouth using glossy accents.

I cut a whole set of the Leafy Greenery and several dog bones.  I tucked the greenery around the scene and attached in place using glossy accents.  I have been fascinated by my new puppy’s habit to hide his favorite chew bones and chew sticks so it inspired me to hide several bones around the scene.  I stamped the Friends sign on white woodgrain cardstock and cut out using my deckle scissors and attached to the house using rolled up double stick tape.  I finished by adding a few formed red flowers punched from my 1/4” flower punch.  Wouldn’t this be a fun card for a dog lover or a child.  I love making scenes!!
