Today I’m sharing an autumn leaves background card using the beautiful newly released Fall Leaf Background stamp by Rubbernecker Stamps. I saw this gorgeous stamp in the Rubbernecker booth this past weekend at the Stamp and Scrapbook Expo in Schaumburg and had to have it. It coordinates perfectly with the Splatter Leaves Stamp set and Splatter Leaves Die set. I had a great time coloring the stamped background using Fired Brick, Shabby Shutters, Spiced Marmalade and Rusty Hinge Distress Inks and mini applicators. It’s hard to tell in the photos but I applied Versa to the background and single leaf die cut and embossed with clear embossing powder. It really made the colors pop. I used the Nested Deckle Rectangles for the leaf background layer.
The Leaf Background
- Cut the background layer using the second largest Deckle rectangle die.
- Insert white cardstock and leaf background stamp in the MISTI.
- Apply Versafine Clair Pinecone ink to the stamp, stamp the image and heat set with heat gun.
- Use mini applicators to color the leaves using Fired Brick, Shabby Shutters, Spiced Marmalade and Rusty Hinge Distress Inks.
- Apply Versa over the whole stamped image using the pad direct to paper technique.
- Sprinkle clear embossing powder over the whole image and finish embossing with heat gun.
- Attach the leaf layer to the white card base using strips of mounting tape.
The Sentiment and Individual Leaf
- Die cut the individual leaf using white cardstock.
- Attach the Splatter Leaf stamp to an acrylic block and color in the inner leaf markings using a brown marker. I didn’t color in the outer leaf line with the marker. (my personal preference)
- Use mini applicators to color the leaves using Fired Brick, Shabby Shutters, Spiced Marmalade and Rusty Hinge Distress Inks.
- Apply Versa and clear embossing powder and heat emboss.
- Cut a white strip of cardstock, cut the edges using the Deckle Rectangle and stamp the sentiment using Versafine Clair Pinecone ink.
- Apply mounting tape to the back of the sentiment strip and attach to the leaf background.
- Attach the leaf to the sentiment strip using a piece of mounting tape.
I hope you have enjoyed seeing my autumn leaves background card. What a beautiful stamp this is. I couple easily be colored with Copic or water based markers or painted using a brush and watercolor paints or inks. I just happen to love playing with my mini applicators and Distress Inks. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great day.
