Spring Flower Blooms

I love making cards with pastel spring flower blooms on an all white background.   For this card I added an element of dimension by creating my scene on the white decorative border.  The card base is still all white but the eyelet layer adds more interest to the clean and simple layout.  I used the Rubbernecker Lamp Post with Accessories, Borders #1, Grass, Flower Stems, Flower Buds, Leaf Group, Small Butterflies and Special Joy sentiment.

The Card Base and Decorative Layer

  • Cut an A2 sized card base using white cardstock.
  • Use the Borders #1 to cut the decorative layer using white cardstock.
  • Secure the sentiment stamp and card base in the MISTI, apply black ink to the stamp and stamp the sentiment.
  • Cut two grass sections using green cardstock, cut to fit on the bottom of the decorative layer and attach using double stick tape.
  • Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the decorative layer and attach it to the card base.

The Lamp Post, Flowers and Butterflies

  • Cut the lamp post and hanging basket using black cardstock.
  • Use pink, purple, yellow and aqua cardstock to cut the flower buds and green cardstock to cut the foliage sections.
  • Cut the small branches off of one of the Leaf Group sections to use as filler for the flower basket arrangement.
  • Apply strips of double stick tape to the back of the flower basket and then tuck the small branches into the basket opening and attach to the tape.
  • Next, tuck several of the flower stem branches in to the arrangement and attach them using glossy accents.
  • Form the flower buds using a small tipped stylus and molding pad.
  • Attach the flowers to the basket foliage and individual flower stems using glossy accents.
  • Attach the basket t the card base using a piece of mounting tape.
  • Tuck the flower stems in behind the grass sections and attach using glossy accents.
  • Finish by attaching the three small butterflies to the card base using glossy accents.

  1. Such a great idea Kittie to make the scene on the added border. Love it. Always nice to get into other cards without so much of a theme after Halloween and Christmas.
