Today I’m sharing bright and cheerful dog greeting card scene with a window and window box full of flowers and a bright green shingled roof. I had the window with drapes and wallpaper left over from my Home Sweet Home card posted last week. The Arch Trellis is one of my favorite new dies by Rubbernecker and I created the scene around it using the Borders #2, Leaves and Greenery, Grass, Small Flowers 1, Small Butterflies and Puppies.
The House Layer and Siding
- Cut the blue house base layer 5.00″ x 3.75″ using blue cardstock.
- Cut strips of white cardstock 3.75″ x .50.
- Begin attaching the white strips of siding to the at the bottom of the house layer using double stick tape. Let each layer overlap the layer below it.
- Crimp a 1/4″ strip of white cardstock to use to top the siding and attach it using double stick tape.
- Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the house layer and attach it to the white card base.
The Roof
- Cut a 3.75″ x 1.25″ strip of cardstock to use for the roof section.
- Cut long green strips of cardstock .25″ wide and then cut them into .50″ sections. to use for shingles.
- Adhere a strips of double stick tape to the bottom of the strip and begin attaching the shingles all the way across.
- Continue attaching the shingles making sure to offset each row. trim the shingle ends sticking out past the roof layer to complete.
- Set roof aside until the window is attached.
The Window, Wallpaper and blind
- Cut the window and border sections using white cardstock.
- Trim the white border sections to fit behind the window and crimp to add the appearance of blinds.
- Attach the blind to the back of the window using double stick tape.
- Use yellow polka dot designer paper to cut the lining for inside the window. Note: The paper is a retired pattern from Papertrey.
- Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the windows and attach the yellow linings. Set aside for assembling the scene.
The Window Box and Flowers
- Hand cut a window box to fit the window using white cardstock
- Cut several sections of foliage using green cardstock and cut small flowers using pink, purple and yellow cardstock.
- Form the flowers using a small tipped stylus and molding pad.
- Attach the foliage vines to the back of the window box using glossy accents and fill in a few sections to the front to complete the arrangement.
- Attach the small flowers to the foliage using glossy accents. Note: I used my revere tweezers to pick up and attach the tiny flowers.
Color the Dogs
- Cut the dogs using white cardstock.
- Use a dark brown marker to color the ears, tails, feet and nose for the middle dog.
- Color the left dog all over using a dark brown marker and color the ears, nose and feet using a black marker.
- Use the black marker to completely cover the dog on the right.
Assemble the Scene
- Apply double stick tape to the back of the window and attach it to the card base.
- Cut one section of grass and attach it to the bottom of the scene using two layers of mounting tape.
- Apply a single layer strip of mounting tape to the back top portion of the roof and three layers of mounting tape on the back bottom portion of the roof. Attach the roof to the top of the scene.
- Attach the window box full of flowers to the window using double stick tape.
- Apply pieces of mounting tape to the back of each dog and attach them to the scene base.
- Finish by attaching the small butterflies using glossy accents.
I hope you enjoyed seeing my dog greeting card scene. I think the dogs look so cute playing under and around the box of flowers even though they are slightly hidden. Here is a link to another fun card that I made with both dogs and cats. Such fun! Thank you for coming by and I hope you are staying home and staying safe and sound.
Here are the dies used for my card.
