There is something just so cheerful about bees and what better way to show you can’t WAIT for spring than to make and send some cute bee cards? I loved pairing this little fellow with the honeycomb die cut and the bright pops of yellow and black make all the elements really stand out. For this card I used the Rubbernecker Honeycomb Die, Bee With Hive, Grass #2 and Kittie Says Friends.
Card Base, Honeycomb Layer and Sentiment
Use white cardstock to cut the A2 sized card base and Honeycomb layer.
Apply strips of mounting tape all the way around the back borders of the Honeycomb layer.
Apply small pieces of mounting tape to several key spots on the back of the Honeycomb layer to keep it from collapsing down on the card base.
Attach the Honeycomb layer to the front of the card base.
Secure the stamp and cardstock in the MISTI, apply Nocturne ink and stamp the sentiment.
Trim the sentiment to create a slim strip and cut a bright yellow strip and attach them together using ATG adhesive.
Apply a strip of mounting tape to the sentiment layer and attach it to the Honeycomb layer.
The Bee and Flower
Use bright yellow, black and vellum to cut the bee sections.
Assemble the bee sections and attach them together using glossy accents. Note: I like using vellum to create the translucence wings.
Cut the flower sections using bright yellow cardstock, the flower center using brown cardstock and the stems and grass using green cardstock.
Use a mini applicator to apply Citrus ink to the front flower section and keep the second flower bright yellow.
Attach the shaded flower to the bright yellow flower using glossy accents.
Place the brown flower center face down on a molding pad and gently form it using a large round stylus.
Attach the brown flower center to the flower using a small piece of mounting tape.
Attach the flower to the stem using glossy accents.
Tuck the flower and grass sprigs in behind the sentiment layer and attach it to the Honeycomb layer.
I plan to make a small stack of these bee cards and then add greetings in black on the white and yellow banner for different reasons. Think about who you know who would get a kick out of this card and plan to send one today!
Oh my gosh, Kittie, this is adorable! My crafty ladies would love this – may need to shop for dies 🙂 Thanks for enabling me, dear friend!!!
