A Die Cut Cherry Blossom Bouquet For a Card

Learn how to make a die cut cherry blossom bouquet to accent your paper crafts!

I used some brand new floral goodies from Rubbernecker to create a die cut cherry blossom bouquet to add a single, sweet element on a simply made card base. I originally thought there was a typo on the package but the sweethearts at Rubbernecker said “No, it’s ‘Cheery Blossoms’ because they make you happy.”  Is that not so sweet? I used the new Cheery Blossoms and  Branch Set paired with the Nested Scallop with Holes and Kittie Says Spring Time set.

And can we just stop for a moment and appreciate this new Branches die set? I am predicting that this set will become indispensable to those of us who love making flower cards. Stems and leaves are lovely, for sure, but these new shapes and designs are such a perfect addition to the amazing collection of flower and nature dies Rubbernecker offers. I am sure I will be using these a LOT!

Cherry Blossom Branches

  • Cut the branches using Kraft cardstock and color them by applying brown ink to them using a wet baby wipe.
  • Heat dry and set aside.
  • Use white cardstock to cut the Cherry Blossom flowers.
  • Apply light pink ink to the flowers using a mini applicator.
  • Add depth of color to the flowers by applying touches of a darker pink ink around the edges of the flowers.
  • Place the flowers face up on the molding pad and gently form them using a round stylus.
  • Cut the leaves and the flower centers using green cardstock.
  • Arrange  the leaves and flowers on the branches  and attach using glossy accents.

Card Base and Sentiment

  • Use light pink cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base.
  • Cut the eyelet layer using white cardstock.
  • Insert the white layer and sentiment stamp in the MISTI, ink the stamp and stamp the sentiment.
  • Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the white layer and attach it to the card base.

The Flower Branches

  • Attach the branches together using glossy accents.
  • Apply thin strips of rolled up double stick tape to the back of several key spots on the branches.

I am really loving this die cut cherry blossom bouquet arranged on a little branch instead of the usual stem and foliage combination. Just think for a second about all the different branches and twigs that look so pretty with their spring blooms. Now we can create these on our cards, too!
