You won’t believe how easy these handmade 3D snowman scene cards are to make!
I was playing around the other day with some layers, wanting to make a little snowman. It took just a few minutes and all of a sudden I had this cute, quick and easy idea for handmade 3D snowman scene cards! And aside from the little details I made to decorate our dapper friend, each step took fractions of minutes so these might be an AWESOME card for making multiples!
To make this double layered wintry card I used the Rubbernecker Holly and Greenery Cover, Horizontal Birch Trees, Winter Snowmen, Deckle Hills, Tiny Leaves #1 and Small Birds. Now, you can adorn your snowman using whatever dies you like and already have or even using premade embellishments. Even just popping on the scarf, the hat band and the cardinal takes seconds and I can tell you that the card is just as cute with just those super fast and easy details. Scroll down to get the inside scoop and see if these just might be your best last minute card design you have!
Card Base and Snowman Scene Elements
- Cut an a2 sized card base using light blue cardstock.
- Use white cardstock to cut the Horizontal Birch Trees and 2 Deckle Hills snow layers.
- Attach one snow layer to the card base using double stick tape.
- Apply touches of Chill gray ink to the knot holes and bark markings on the birch trees. PRO TIP: You can save a little time by just dabbing a gray marker around the notches.
- Apply strips of mounting tape around the tree frame base and tree trunks and attach it to the card base.
- Attach the second snow layer to the front of the birch tree layer.
- Use green cardstock to cut the Holly and Greenery Cover, apple double stick tape to the back of the frame and attach it to the birch tree frame.
Snowman and Embellishments
- Use white cardstock to cut the Winter Snowman body sections.
- Use black, red, brown and orange to cut the harms, hat, clothing and nose. PRO TIP: To save time you could add these details with your markers if you wish!
- Attach the head to the body using glossy accents.
- Use glossy accents to attach the mittens to the arm branches and attach them to the snowman body using glossy accents. PRO TIP: Does every snowman need mittens?
- Attach the red ribbon strip to the hat using glossy accents.
- Use glossy accents to attach the scarf to the snowman neck.
- Attach the facial features and buttons to the snowman using glossy accents.
- Use green cardstock to cut the Tiny Leaves and red cardstock to punch out red red berries and attach them to the hat and scarf using glossy accents.
- Apply Cosmic glitter glue to the leaves and berries and sprinkle with clear glitter.
Finish the 3D Snowman Scene
- Apply a piece of mounting tape to the back of the snowman, tuck him in behind the snow layer and attach him to the birch trees,
- Adhere a small piece of mounting tape to the back of the hat and attach it to the birch tree.
- Cut berry branches using green cardstock , berries using red cardstock and attach them together using glossy accents. PRO TIP: Again, markers can be your best friend if you want to save a little time!
- Tuck the berry branches in behind the snow layer and attach them using glossy accents.
- Cut the Small Bird using red cardstock and finish the scene by attaching it to the top hat using a small piece mounting tape.
