Check out how a piece of patterned paper and some scraps can turn into this quick and easy die cut snowman card!
For many people, this has been a warmer than usual winter so the snowman population hasn’t been as robust. I decided we needed a sighting so I created this quick and easy die cut snowman card. This card comes together SO fast thanks to a fabulous all in one snowman die set and a cute patterned paper to set the scene. For this card I used the Rubbernecker Wintery Woodlands 6″ x 6″ Paper Pad, Winter Snowmen, Deckle Hills and Snowmen with Presents and I am getting such a kick out of how they all come together so beautifully!
Card Base and Snow Layer
- Use white cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base.
- Use burgundy cardstock to cut a 5.50″ x 4.25″ layer and Wintery Woodlands 6″ x 6″ Paper Pad to cut a 5.25″ x 4.00″ layer.
- Apply ATG adhesive to the burgundy layer and attach it to the card base. Pro Tip: I most always use white cardstock for the card base for stamping sentiments and layer colored cardstock for the front base.
- Attach the designer paper layer to the card base using ATG adhesive.
- Cut a 5.50″ x 1.00″ snow layer using white cardstock and Deckle Hills die.
- Secure the snow layer to the card base using a strip of mounting tape.
Die Cut Snowman and Sentiment
- Cut the snowman parts using burgundy, black and white cardstock.
- Apply color to the branch arms using a light brown marker.
- Attach the scarf to the bottom body circle using glossy accents.
- Apply the head circle to the scarf and bottom circle using glossy accents.
- Attach the snow cap to the head using a small strip of rolled up double stick tape. Pro Tip: The thin rope of tape adds just the right amount of dimension holding the hat apart from the head versus using mounting tape.
- Attach the facial parts and buttons to the snowman using Connect Glue. Pro Tip: I like to use Connect Glue rather than Glossy Accents to attach tiny pieces because it dries totally clear in case it slips out from under the part.
- Stamp the sentiment on white cardstock and attach it to the burgundy layer.
- Attach the mittens to the arm branches using glossy accents.
- Use glossy accents to attach the mittens to the sentiment layer and then attach the sentiment to the snowman using mounting tape.
- Attach the branch arm to the back of the snowman using glossy accents.
- Apply a large piece of mounting tape to the back of the snowman body and attach it to the card base.
