How ideal is this idea for handmade cards to give to artists of all types?
I sometimes hear people say that they worry about creating handmade cards to give to artists because they are thinking that their form of art won’t seem as special as the one of the person they want to send the card to. I always think that sending a handmade card – no matter what kind – is special all on its own I can understand why some people might not feel totally confident.
Well with this new Painters Set die set from Rubbernecker, anyone can make a card that is a sweet nod to anyone who likes to think of themselves as an artist. All the little tools are so easy to make and when set with the little “painting” I created look ready to grab and use. I added a quick layer made with Rubbernecker’s Nested Scallop with Half Holes, and used one of the sentiments from the Crafty Phrases set.
Let me share with you all the little details for making this fun card.
Card Base and Sentiment
- Use white cardstock to cut the Nested Scallop with Half Holes and bright pink cardstock to cut the A2 sized card base.
- Secure the white layer and sentiment stamp in the MISTI and stamp using Nocturne ink.
- Apply ATG adhesive to the back of the sentiment layer and attach it to the card base.
Make The Tools with the Painters Set
- Use woodgrain cardstock to cut two easel sections and multi colors of cardstock to cut the container and brushes.
- Trim off the easel cross bar section from the second easel, attach a thin strip of mounting tape to attach the cross bar section of the easel to the main easel base.
- Apply thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the easel and attach it to the card base.
- Assemble the container and brush pieces together using glossy accents .
- Attach the brushes to the back of the container using glossy accents.
- Apply a large piece of mounting tape to the back of the contain and attach it to the card base.
The Colorful Painted Scene
- Cut a small 2.50″ x 2.00″ piece of watercolor paper .
- Use Fern reinker and a round brush to paint the ground area.
- Paint the tree trunk using Pecan reinker and a small round brush.
- Use the Fern reinker to paint the tree top.
- Heat dry the scene before continuing.
- Use a mini fern stamp to stamp the ground and tree texture using Fern ink. Note: I used the retired Kittie Kits Cause a Scene set which you can use if you have. Otherwise, just grab any small foliage stamp to give you some definition.
- Add bright pink texture to the tree top and ground line using Fuchsia ink and the mini fern stamp.
- Finish by heat drying the paper again and then lightly apply Beachside with a small blender brush.
- Attach the scene to the easel using pieces of mounting tape.
In my early paper crafting years I loved creating Pointillism style scenes using my Kittie Kits set and creating texture with the mini fern stamp in the set. If you like the look but don’t have a mini texture image stamp you can use marker tips or mini tipped sponge applicators to get the same affect.
I love this sentiment from the Crafty Phrases set and there are several more very fitting ones perfect for your artist and crafty friends. Here are all the other things I used from Rubbernecker today:
