This handmade summer scene card idea can be used for lots of different occasions and can be done in any colors you love.
As I mentioned the other day, I got to play with the new goodies in the Rubbernecker August release and was in my happy place making new cards using them. Today I am sharing a handmade summer scene card idea that I made with their new Patio Chairs, Patio Table, and Classic Tabbed Grass dies along with the background made with their Lattice with Scallop Cover and added some details with their Beach Umbrella and Grass #2 dies. I also used a scrap from their Welcome Spring 6×6 Paper Pad – can you spot it?
Now, this card was made with a summery vibe but the more I got into the making, the more I was picturing it for Fall with autumn colors and fall leaves and then for winter with winter foliage and snow. I could also see all kinds of color combos popping in my creative mind, making this a very customizable design.
Let me take you through the steps so you can adapt this scene card idea as you want to see it.
The Card Base
- Use white cardstock to cut the A2 sized card base and the Lattice with Scallop Cover.
- Apply strips of rolled up double stick tape to the back frame border and a few key spots on the lattice sections.
- Attach the lattice cover to the card base. Pro Tip: Rolled up double stick is thin enough to use on the die cut and allows it to stand a bit away from the base for dimension.
- Use green cardstock to cut a strip of the Classic Tabbed Grass and attach it to the lattice layer using a strip of mounting tape.
The Patio Table, Chairs and Umbrella
- Cut the table and chairs from the Patio Chairs set using black, gray and bright pink cardstock.
- Assemble the pieces and attach them together using Connect glue.
- Cut the tiny pillow using a small section of the Welcome Spring 6×6 Paper Pad and attach it to the chair using a small piece of mounting tape.
- Tuck the table and chairs in behind the grass and attach them using pieces of mounting tape.
- Use bright pink and white cardstock to cut the Beach Umbrella sections and attach them together using Connect glue.
- Tuck the umbrella pole in behind the table and attach in place using Connect glue.
- Apply a double piece of mounting tape to the back middle of the umbrella to create a more rounded appearance. Attach large glue dots to the back top and sides of the umbrella.
Finish the Summery Scene
- Use green cardstock to cut a section of Grass #2 and foliage from the Patio Table set.
- Cut several colorful tiny flowers from the table set.
- Use pink and purple cardstock to cut the tiny vases from the table set.
- Attach three pieces of foliage to the back of each vase using glossy accents.
- Use glossy accents to attach the tiny flowers to the foliage.
- Attach the baes of flowers to the table using glossy accents.
- Apply glossy accents to the back of the grass sprigs and attach them behind the grass layer.
- Attach the tiny flowers to the grass sprigs using glossy accents.
Don’t you just want to grab a couple of iced teas and sit down here with a friend? I just love all the little details in these new Patio die sets and I just love being able to us those itty bitty Paper Pad scraps to make those adorable little pillows!
