Come see how to make this adorable die cut dog scene card come to life with a dimensional lifelike background and the perfect little doghouse!
Today I am doubly excited because I get to share this cute and punchy die cut dog scene card AND am linking for the first time ever to the brand new Brass and Bliss website! Before I dive into the making of this adorable, all occasion card that everyone who loves puppers will love to receive, I just want to talk about the brand new website for a minute.
The new website is so beautifully organized, with products sorted not just by type, but by theme. So let’s say you want some new doggie stamps – go the site, click on shop, click on “Animals” under Themes and you will see everything Brass and Bliss has to offer you in the way of every kind of critter. Or shop by Stamps, Dies, Ink, Paper, etc. to round out your stash. There is even a Kittie Dies section. Yeah! You can also check out the brand new Bliss Points rewards program – you get one point for every dollar you spend plus bonus points on your birthday! Check it out here – it’s a great program! I love the new site and finding things has never been easier!
Now on to this stinkin’ cute card! I used Brass and Bliss’ Dog House, Set of Dogs, Individual Birch Trees, Tiny Leaves #2, Flower Stems, Classic Tabbed Grass and Large Birds dies and their Scenic Route 6×6 Paper Pad in the background. Read on to get my steps for the making and my tips and tricks for bringing some fun realism to the scene.
Card Base and Die Cut Birch Trees
- Cut an A2 sized card base using white cardstock.
- Cut a 5.50″ x 4.25″designer paper layer from the Scenic Route 6×6 Paper Pad.
- Apply double stick tape to the back of the designer paper layer and attach it to the card base.
- Use woodgrain cardstock to cut the Individual Birch Trees.
- Apply Caramel Color Fuse ink to the birch trees using a wet baby wipe and dry with your heat gun. Note: The picture below shows a different tree but the technique is the same.
- Use green cardstock to cut a set of Tiny Leaves #2.
- Attach the leaves to the branches using glossy accents.
- Apply rolled up ropes of double stick tape to the back of the trees.
- Attach the trees to the card base. Note: The trees were staggered to allow the trees on the paper to show well.
- PRO TIP: Adding die cut elements over similar stamped or printed elements adds a totally natural looking and highly dimensional look with very little fuss. Try this out with other printed or stamped backgrounds.
The Die Cut Dog and The Little Die Cut Dog House
- Cut the Set of Dogs dog using black, cream and white cardstock.
- Assemble the pieces and attach them together using glossy accents.
- Cut the Dog House using woodgrain and red cardstock.
- Apply Caramel ink to the body of the dog house using a wet baby wipe and heat dry.
- Attach the red roof to the house using a rope of double stick tape.
- Hand write the dog name on the sign, attach it to the hanger using glossy accents.
Grass, Stems and Birds
- Cut two sections of the Classic Tabbed Grass using green cardstock.
- Apply double stick tape to one grass section and attach it to the card base.
- Apply a strip of double stick to the second grass section and attach it to the card base.
- Tuck the dog house and dog in between the grass layers and attach using pieces of mounting tape.
- Use green cardstock to cut the Flower Stems, tuck them in behind the grass layers and attach using glossy accents.
- Cut the Large Birds using red cardstock, color the beaks using a black marker and attach them to the trees and grass using small pieces of mounting tape.
Doesn’t this look like you could step right into the scene and play with this pupper? Here are the Brass and Bliss products used to make this card.

You can, of course, adapt this die cut dog scene card to make the pup look like your own or your recipient’s favorite fur baby, add different elements into the scene and even add another pooch! Use this idea as your jumping off point and have fun making it your own!
Oh my goodness! This card is just way too adorable Kittie!
Love your cute little doggie scene!
I love the dimension you created by stamping the lighter trees in the background. The puppy is super cute.
