Make A Fun Summer Nautical Card

Come see how to make a red, white and blue summer nautical card with a stenciled anchors and stars background.

I loved making this  card using the Brass and Bliss Anchors and Stars Stencil and pairing it with the Beach Umbrellas, Waves and Beach Bag with a patriotic color combination.  It may look complicated but I’ll show you how easy it was to make with the steps below.

red, white and blue summer nautical card

Summer nautical cards are are perfect for any of the patriotic holidays.  I think this one is perfect for for the 4th of July.

Stenciled Background and Waves

  • Attach the stencil over the A2 sized white card base.  Pro Tip:  Using a sticky mat to secure the stencil makes the job much easier.
  • Cut three wave sections using white cardstock.
  •  Apply dark blue ink to the stencil to create the background and one wave section using a large blender brush.
  • Use a small blender brush to apply touches of light brown ink to one wave section.
  • Apply double stick tape to the bottom back of one white wave and the blue wave.
  • Attach tiny pop dots to a few key spots on the top back of the two wave sections.
  • Adhere the waves to the card base.  Pro Tip:  I applied double stick tape to the bottoms so they would lay flat for less bulk.  The tiny pop dots hold the waves lightly away from the base.
  • Apply a strip of mounting tape to the front wave and attach it to the card base.  Pro Tip:  Offset the wave layers for a more natural look.

Beach Accessories

  • Use red and white cardstock to cut the umbrella, flip flops and beach bag sections.
  • Use Nuvo glue to attach the white sections to the red umbrella base.
  • Gently bend the umbrella with your fingers to create the rounded appearance.
  • Apply large glue dots to the back top center and the sides of the umbrella and a doubled piece of mounting tape in the center and attach it to the card base.
  • Tuck the pole in behind the umbrella and wave and attach using glue dots at the top and middle of the pole.
  • Assemble and adhere the bag and flip flop sections using Nuvo glue and attach them to the card base using small pieces of mounting tape.  Note:  I cut the beach bag a second time using white cardstock and hand cut the decorative stripes.
