Come see how to make this savory picnic basket card using dies from the Brass and Bliss “Creative Medley” release.
I love making outdoor scenes and the Savor the Moment and Bee Dies provided lots of fun elements to fill the picnic themed card. I paired the two new dies with the Wicker Basket, Framed Tag, Classic Grass, Sunlit Blossoms and Grass #2. The bunch of grapes were definitely attracting the honey bees.
Assembling the Basket and Food Elements
- Cut the basket, bread sections, cutting boards and cheese sections using cream colored cardstock, apply color using blending brushes and attach the individual sections together.
- Use red and purple cardstock to cut the grape base sections and grapes. Note: There are three grape base layers but I only used the largest base.
- Cover the large grape base with tiny poop dots and attach the grapes to dully cover it.
- Apply another layer of pop dots over the bottom grapes, off setting them to leave gaps to see the bottom grapes, and attach more grapes to create natural full looking bunches.
- Cover the grapes with glossy accents to add a layer of shine and set them aside to dry. Note: It doesn’t show well in the photos but looks great in person.
- Use green cardstock to cut the grape leaves.
Fill the Picnic Basket
Create the Picnic Basket
- Apply blue color to the A2 sized card base using blending brushes.
- Cut the frame using red cardstock and the grass layer using green cardstock.
- Attach thin strips of mounting tape all the way around the back of the frame, attach the grass layer, apply double stick tape to the back of the grass section and attach to the card base.
- Use glossy accents to attach the bread, cutting board and cheese to the back of the basket. Fill in space with a few flower stems.
- Tuck the basket behind the grass layer and attach it using mounting tape.
- Use glossy accents to attach a few extra sprigs of grass and a few flowers to soften the scene.
- Attach grape leaves to the back of the grapes and attach one of them to the front of the basket.
- Adhere a second cutting board, grapes, bread and cheese to the grass layer using glossy accents. Note: There is a slicing knife on the board but it is a little hard to see.
- To finish the picnic basket scene I added the three bumble bees with wings made with velum.
