Impression Obsession “Inspired by a Song” Challenge

Good Thursday morning and welcome to the Impression Obsession “Inspired by a Song” Design Team challenge. Can you guess what song inspired my birdhouse scene? I heard it lots when I was a little girl.  Some of you are probably old enough to remember it and some of you are too young to have ever heard it.  LOL!

When the red, red robin comes bob, bob bobbin' along, along,
There'll be no more sobbing when he starts throbbing his own sweet song.

Wake up, wake up, you sleepy head,
Get up, get up, get out of bed,
Cheer up, cheer up the sun is red,
Live, love, laugh and be happy.
What if I've been blue,
Now I'm walking through fields of flowers,
Rain may glisten, but still I listen for hours and hours.
I'm just a kid again, doing what I did again, singing a song,
When the red, red robin comes bob, bob bobbin' along.

Words & Music: Harry M. Woods (1926).

My project was made using the Birdhouse Set, Tall Grass, Grass Border, Small Bird Set, Leafy Branch and Leaves and Stems.

I started by cutting the frame using my Matting Basics A and B and attaching them together with mounting tape.  I like the little bit of separation between the layers as I think it adds interest.  I applied mounting tape to the back of the frame, attached three tall grass sections to the tape and then attached the frame to the card base. I tucked a section of the grass border down in between the white and red frame layer and attached with dots of glossy accents

Here’s a closer view of the frame and birdhouses so you can see the detail in the Essentials by Ellen woodgrain embossed cardstock.  It’s perfect with no color and looks wonderful with colored added. I love it.

I cut the birdhouses two times and I applied vintage photo  to them with a mini applicator.  I cut the roof lines off of the second set of birdhouses and popped them up over the main part of the houses with mounting tape.  I cut thin strips of the colored paper and applied to the bottom of the birdhouses to add a little more definition where they are joined to the pole. I attached the birdhouses in the scene with mounting tape.

I cut a couple sections of the leafy branches using green cardstock, colored the stems with a brown Copic marker, formed them lightly with my stylus and molding pad and attached them along the top of the frame to look like tree branches hanging over the scene.  I added lots of red birds in the scene for the finishing touch. This is such a happy scene.

  4. Good Morning, Kittie. Yes, I do remember this song, was a cute up beat song, and reminds you that spring is coming. Such a cute song, to sing and skip too.

  5. A song from days when there was real music! This one is from before my time, but I do know it and could actually sing along. It is so sad that there hasn’t been much “real” music since probably the 70s. As for my listening pleasure, give me anything from the 70s and before. I can’t take the garbage they put out and call music these days! LOL! Your card is so pretty! Now I’ll be “bobbin” along the rest of the day. Probably won’t be able to get that song out of my head. 🙂

  6. Beautiful card Kittie! Yes I remember this song, not all the words though. Thank you for putting the words up. Whenever I see a robin I think of this song, it is my springtime song. This bright and happy card has brightened a gloomy, cold, rainy day. I must get the small birds die, I need it! Thank you for sharing today.
