Impression Obsession “Masculine” Challenge

Good Thursday morning and welcome to the Impression Obsession “Masculine” Design Team challenge. Masculine cards can present a real challenge for me since I tend to favor making cards with flowers and/or floral scenes. For today’s project I turned to my  Deer Trio, Fir Trees, Tall Grass, Grass Border and Small Bird Set  to create a masculine scene.

I started by turning my brown ink pad face down and rubbing it up and down directly on a piece of white woodgrain embossed cardstock to apply ink and then heat dried the paper.  I cut a frame opening with a Matting Basics A die and a second frame in green with a Matting Basics B die. I attached the two frames together with strips of mounting tape, attached the grass border to the mounting tape and then attached the frame to the kraft card base with another level of mounting tape for dimension. Check out my double matted frame tutorial  if you would like to see step by step photos of how I make my frames.

I cut the deer and birds using kraft cardstock and colored them using a mini applicator and brown ink.  I cut and crimped the tree and attached to the card base with mounting tape. I cut a tall grass section and cut apart and attached the sections in behind the grass border with glossy accents.  I attached the deer with mounting tape and finished the scene by adding a few flying birds in the sky area and a few on the grasses attaching them with glossy accents.
