Christmas Is Past But We Can Still Sparkle

This card is for the Sketch Challenge today on Splitcoaststampers.  I took the opportunity to use a new Sailboat stamp that I just got from Rubbernecker Stamp Company as it is the perfect size for the circle layer.  I stamped with Black Brilliance and painted and sponged with Ranger Adirondack Dye inks and reinkers. I added sparkle to all the layers with versa and Iridescent embossing powder.  I cut the circle layers with Nestabilities and I popped the sailboat layer up on mounting tape.  One point of interest is that the main aqua background layer was stipple brushed with aqua Adirondack ink and the embossing powder heated to it beautifully. The ink dries much more slowly than other dye inks and allows embossing easily.  I couldn’t resist putting a sailor knot on for an embellishment although I know it really isn’t tied correctly…I think it is still cute.  This was a fun sketch to work with.  I love all the sparkle as well as it reminds me of sitting on the beach and looking out over the gorgeous ocean with the sun shining and creating a natural sparkle to enjoy.

I did one more for this challenge and wanted to post it.  What fun!  These two images are from Rubbernecker -Baby.  Click on this link to see the other darling images in this catagory. I decided to take my stuffed baby animals out of the nursey and place them in a little jungle scene.  They are such cute animals.  I used Adirondack reinkers, Caramel and Latte to paint the images and then used a small watercolor brush to hand paint greenery with Lettus reinker.  I cut another matching circle out of olive to create a little grassy patch to pop up in front of the scene. I sponged over the grassy area with Lettus dye ink and then sponged the sky area with Scattered Straw Distress ink. This was another fun card to make for this challenge.

  1. Two more great cards Kittie! I especially like the two adorable animals sitting in the jungle. The Cuttlebug embossing really stands out and gives great dimension! TFS
