I came home from work early today as I feeling like I’m getting the flu. My husband came home just now feeling the same way. Oh no!!!!! I took a long nap and woke up and decided to try doing the Color Challenge on Splitcoaststampers which was a to use bright colors- rose red, apricot appeal and sage shadow. My first thought was Easter so I pulled out my new Rubbernecker Easter stamps and picked a cute Mrs. Chick and some eggs to put in a scene. No big description necessary as this card is very straight forward. I stamped the image with Black Brilliance and watercolored with Adirondack reinkers. I cut frames with Nestabilities dies and used the chicken wire background from the Rubbernecker On the Farm set on the rose layer. I used my plastic bag of dried rice to create a non descript background on the apricot layers. I used some Diamond Glaze and crystal glitter on the eggs and the flowers on the hat to add some sparkle. This was a fast and easy little card.
I decided to try another simple card and use another Rubbernecker image that I haven’t played with yet called Parasol from the People section. I decided to use the die cut from my card above as a base layer for this image. I cut a smaller white layer to stamp the image on. I stamped the image a second time so I cut her out and pop her up to give depth to the umbrella. I used a grey artist pen to additional some rain water dots above the umbrella and watercolored with sage. I applied Diamond Glaze and glitter to make the rain look sparkly. I painted the girl and umbrella and cut out so I could pop her up over the rain layer. I used the rice bag once again to create the background for the scalloped layer and then added little dots of Stickle glitter glue. I embossed the apricot layer with a textile Cuttlebug folder for some additional texture. I popped the scalloped layer image up with mounting tape. This was another fast and easy card but now I’m going to go lay back down.
