The Inspiration Challenge today on Splitcoaststampers had an art print for our inspiration piece.

It’s fairly modern piece but I was inspired to go more with an old fashioned floral bouquet.  I used some similar colors but added a soft pink and used more olive rather than the moss green.  I chose to work with a 1997 retired Stampin’ Up! set-Wildflowers and a hostess set called Garden Silhouettes to create my piece.  I inked up my images and sprayed them with a little water before stamping on the paper.  This gave a softer feel to the images.  I for the pink and green stem I stamped the whole image in pretty in pink and then used an olive marker to fill in the stem areas and covering the pink.  Some of the flowers got a little too runny so I used the fine tip of the pink marker to add some definition back to the stems and drew in little bits of olive stems between the tiny buds.  I after stamping the large plum and saffron flowers I used a watercolor brush dipped in reinker to add color and depth to the images and to fill over the green leaves and stems in the back.  When completely painted I sponged on saffron around the whole bouquet to add light.  After attaching my ribbon and attaching the image layers to the base I added a little bit of stickles to add a little sparkle to the flowers and stems. I love floral designing with live flowers and this was fun to do on watercolor paper.

  1. I can’t find where my comment went, so I’ll post again. This is one of the most beautiful florals you done Kittie, it’s so vibrant with color.
