Sunday Playin’ Jan 27

The Featured Stamper on Splitcoaststampers Sunday challenge is StampingPam and she has a fun gallery to pick inspiration from.  I especially like her layouts.  Here is a link to her card that I chose to work from.  I made my card square and my image layer is a little larger but the layout concept is the same.  My colors are different but I used designer paper and a fun critter image as well.  Gift Frog is one of Anna Wight’s (SweetMissDaisy) new images and can be found at Whipper Snapper.

I stamped my image with Brilliance Black Graphite and painted with Adirondack reinkers. I sponged the grassy area around the froggy, painted some stems and then filled in grassy and flower texture with my fern stamp.  I cut out an additional stamped image of the package and the flower , painted and popped them up but I don’t think it shows in the photo.  I decided to add the fun little "Love" sentiment tag to a flower stem for a touch of whimsy and the gingham bow is just the perfect touch of embellishment.  Of course, gingham is the perfect touch for almost anything…well except elegant stuff.  I rarely do that.  Anna’s images are so much fun to play with and the froggy is no exception.

Gardening

I love creating garden and outdoor scenes and Rubbernecker has these wonderful images to play with. I stamped the images, painted and cut out to pop up over the grassy background. I sketched the little clay pots and the fence along the edge of the grass and added little pink flowers to the greenery to match the wheelbarrow full of potted plants waiting to be planted.  This was lots of cutting work but I enjoyed every minute of it.

  1. Both cards are really sweet. I love the scene you concocted with the wheelbarrow, and the frog — what could be sweeter. Okay, so frogs aren’t really sweet, but I was looking for a word that would work for both and couldn’t. So the frog is really cute and kinda sweet cause he is bringing a rose and gift to some special frog out there. That’s sweet, isn’t it?

  3. I just love coming to see what little creative scene you have built next. Just thought I’d let you know that something changed on your blog and now you only have a partial feed going out. With just a short time alloted for computer time it really is easier to read in google reader and whatnot when you are in full feed. Maybe you hit a button by mistake, so just thought I’d let you know what happened.
