Cottontail’s Carrot and Tulips

The Featured Stamper’s challenge today on Splitcoaststampers is featuring Mary Jo Albright.  This girl is a wonderfully talented and creative stamper.  I got to eat dinner with her when I was out in California for CHA and she is just as sweet as she is talented. I was inspired by one her Easter cards, the soft colors she used and especially the layout.  I changed the color combination and flipped the layout a little but kept the Easter theme and used soft colors. I just received an order from Papertrey Inc with the new Aqua Mist and Spring Moss cardstock, ribbons and designer papers.  Oh…talk about soft. Ladies…the twill is the most wonderful, high quality twill I have ever seen.

I stamped my Cottontail’s Carrot image from Rubbernecker on watercolor paper with Black Brilliance.  I masked him and sponged on Adirondack Light -Willow Dye ink all around him.  I painted Cottontail with Adirondack Light- Aqua and his carrot with Adirondack Light Peach.  The Adirondack Willow and Aqua are perfect ink matches for this new Papertrey product.  I used my fern stamp to add texture to the ground area and decided to create a couple of beds of tulips to match the tulip theme Mary Jo had used. I hand painted the tulips behind the bunny and then did a second set on scrap watercolor paper and cut out to pop up in front of him. I sponged on a little Adirondack Light – Lemonade ink along the flower line and then sponged on Aqua for the sky.  I used some of the new designer paper as for one of the layers and decided that white was the perfect layering paper for this card.  I used three yellow/green brads and an oval layer for my Happy Easter sentiment.  I thought a few little tulips on that would cute as well. I added sparkle to the carrot, tulips and bow tie with Copic Spica sparkle pens but they don’t show in the photo. This was a fun card to do and I had a great time surfing Mary Jo’s gallery.

  1. Kittie, this is beautiful and cute at the same time. I thought the flowers at the bottom were little primas or something. But you cut them out and they look great. Love this card and everything you do, but then you knew that already!
