Signature Style

The Limited Supply Challenge on Splitcoaststampers today was to create a card using some type of handwriting, whether for the sentiment or as part of the design.  I decided to not only print my "friend" sentiment but also to hand sketch my flowers, stems and leaves. I used my Faber-Castell artist pen to sketch the flowers and tops leaves on watercolor paper, painted with mustard reinker and Distress Peeled Paint reinker and a watercolor brush and then cut out.  I sketched out the additional leaves and stem, painted and cut out.  I created a frame with a Nestabilities oval with designer paper and mustard cardstock.  I sponged Distress ink Scattered Straw on the background paper for behind the flower and stems.  I used my artist pen to hand write the friends sentiment on one additional leave.  I am happy with how my flowers and stems turned out.  What fun.  Hmmmm….I wonder what other kind of flowers I can draw.  Who knew??!!

  1. Who knew…..I knew you have a fabulous coloring style, I knew you “add” drawn elements to your stamped images, I knew I love your work, but I didn’t know you could draw so well. Just another added demention to your style.

  2. Stunning! What a true artist you are. I was looking all over for the name of the stamp and then read that you sketched this; unbelievable! You should have it made into a stamp for Rubbernecker.

  3. Well, I knew! You are a true artist. You’ve been using your drawing skills forever drawing your trees and your fences, why does drawing these flowers surprise you? Face it Kitty, you rock!

  4. Kittie, I know you said you’ve never taken a formal art class, but you ARE an artist! If I attempted drawing something like that, it would have been unrecognizable! Your card is just lovely! TFS
