Swinging Doors

The Ways to Use It challenge on Splitcoaststampers today was to create a card with some type of window.  I thought it would be fun to create a swinging bar room door opening and placing my Rubbernecker Cowboy sheriff coming in from outside.  I cut the opening out in some western designer paper with a Nestabilities oblong die.  I sponged distress ink on the paper to age it.  I painted watercolor paper with Vintage and Walnut Stain Distress reinkers, sketched out little wood lines on it and then cut it into thin strips to create the door facing and floor.  I cut the swinging doors out of wtercolor paper with my tag punch (I forgot to get it into my picture below), sketched out wood lines on them and painted with the same Distress reinkers. I stamped my cowboy on white paper and colored with Copic markers and cut out to pop up in the door way. I added brads to the swinging doors and then popped them up with mounting tape.  I created a plain sky background for the outside and popped the cowboy up over it with mounting tape.  I sketched wood lines on the main caramel card layer and sponged on Distress inks to create a wood look.  I love the way this came together.  Oh…and I added a little aged sheriff’s star to the cowboy for fun.
