I love Challenges-RBC02

Is it just me or does it seem the weeks just fly by?  It’s already time for our second Rubbernecker Blogger Challenge.  I could have sworn I just did the first one yesterday. Each week Jeanne S will be posting a new Rubbernecker Blogger Challenge late Sunday night or early Monday morning. Please link your card or project back to that particular challenge post using at least one Rubbernecker (or Stamp Oasis or KK Originals image) to be entered in a monthly prize drawing. Rules, past challenges and blog button can be found HERE . You can click on these other Rubbernecker Design Team players here to see their entries for the challenge.

This week our challenge was to use the colors Tan (or light brown) Red and Light Blue.  Hmmmm!  Those colors just screamed cowboy card to me.  I am so lucky to have just gotten some new Rubbernecker Little Lovin’s images this week and one of my favorite is a cowboy. He’s a perfect hayseed right down to the hay sticking out of his mouth.  I pulled out my Cowboy Collection to use the barbed wire fence, sage brush, horseshoe, branding iron background and sentiment.  I dug into my Beach Party Collection to get the sand dune image so I could use it for the dirt area on my scene. The little sand dune images can do lots of wonderful things besides just a dune.

I stamped my cowboy image on scrap watercolor paper with Brilliance Black and colored him with Distress Fired Brick, Scattered Straw and Adirondack Sail Boat Blue, Latte,Sandal and Slate reinkers. I used a silver metallic pen over top of Slate to color his belt buckle. I added little polka-dots to his kerchief with an Inkssentials White Opaque Pen. I cut him out with snips and a craft knife and set aside.  I stamped the fence  with Brilliance on Vanilla cardstock and painted with Distress Vintage Photo reinker.  I sponged Latte around the ground area and added texture with the sand dune image and I sponged Latte in the sky area using a cloud template.  I love the way the ground and sky meet.  I know….there really are no tan skies but I loved this effect.  I stamped the sagebrush with Vintage Photo and then stamped  over it again several times lightly with Peeled Paint.  The colors sort of off set each other to create a dry looking plant.  Not all brown and not all green.  I added little bits of Peeled Paint on the sprigs of grass at the foot of each fence post. I stamped the horseshoes with versa and embossed with gold embossing powder.  I used a dark brown Copic marker to color over and to distress the gold and make it look more like rusted iron. I cut them out to lay around the scene and put one in his hand for a fun touch. I finally stamped the sentiment on scrap watercolor paper, colored it in and cut out with my craft knife and attached to an additional couple of fence posts that I stamped and cut out. In the end you can’t really tell it is wood holding the words together….but I still like it.  My final little touch was to add the gingham ribbon knot to the "O" of the sentiment and another little piece to look like a handkerchief sticking out of his pocket. I distressed some Caramel and Red cardstcok for for the background layers and added the branding iron image to the red…but it barely shows. This project was work but so much fun to do.
