Riley Goes Camping

I am in love with Riley the Moose from Hanna Stamps. Isn’t he adorable.  The sketch challenge on SCS today was to use an offset oval.  I thought Riley in his camping tent would be great popped over a background of trees and his camping site.  Note he has his marshmallows on a stick to roast.  Instead of sitting on the log by the fire he decided to lay in the tent.  What fun to create.

I stamped the Riley image on the oval and also on the main layer of the card.  I ended up not using quite as much of the main layer image as I had first thought I could so you only see the one little corner of the tent on the left corner.  I stamped the fire and marshmallow image from another Riley image and added in this scene.  I hand sketched the trees and log by the fire with an artist pen and watercolored with caramel reinker.  I sponged the ground and leaf areas with Distress Peeled Paint and filled in the texture with my fern stamp.  The tent is colored with mustard. I cut a little bit of grass out of olive cardstock to add to the log just to add interest.  I was going to add grass to the border of the tent as well but it was too much.  I used Nestabilities to cut both my oval layers and popped up over the scene with mounting tape.  I cut an additional Riley head and popped him up as well. I stamped the fire three times and cut out and popped up and added a little log along the border of it as well.  Isn’t he the cutest thing out there camping alone.

  1. Kittie, this is just the most adorable card! Your trees are fabulous and the logs look so dimensional. You are good girl! TFS
