Skirt Full of Flowers

I made this card for the Rubbernecker Blogger Challenge, RBC05 to use red, yellow and green.  I have enjoyed playing with some of these Victorian girls from the Rubbernecker KK Originals Ladies Collection. I especially love this girl with her skirt filled full of flowers. I stamped her on watercolor paper with Brilliance black and heat set.  I used Adirondack Lemonade, Distress Peeled Paint and Vintage Photo, a brushed tip Faber-Castell reddish/burgundy artist pen from the Landscape set, and Stampin’ Up! Blush Blossom to color her. I used the marker to paint the red flowers as I seem to have a terrible time watercoloring small objects with any color red.  I cannot keep it from running, even when I heat set the other colors around it. This waterproof marker was just the perfect thing to color in those small images and not run. The Cuttlebug Dotted folder and decorative scalloped borders seemed the perfect fit for this old-fashioned girl. I cut the borders with scalloped decorative scissors and pierced the eyelet holes with a large needle. I cut out the girl image so I could pop her up over the dotted layer with mounting tape. Since I went with more of a cranberry red for this challenge I chose to use the retired Stampin’ Up! Cranberry paper.  I added a little non uniform texture to the base card by pouncing my ever faithful (and free) bag of dried rice on the ink and then cardstock.  I popped the scalloped borders up on mounting tape and applied the yellow grosgrain for a delicate touch of color to embellish.  I think she is pretty and this was lots of fun to work on.

  1. She is very pretty! I love the dotted background and the scalloped and pierced trim. The yellow ribbon accent works so well. Great job as always Kittie.
